I went and talked to the OP...

Until I read her post, I thought that SL pregnancies were pretty much just the big belly.

It turns out that the HUD she mentioned mimics the menstrual cycle, and you have to have another person, man or woman, to act as the other parent when you are fertile.

That's what I was curious to know.

Apparently it's just like real life - a monthly cycle with PMT lasting 27 days.

Pep (There was a culture which shut away in complete isolation all pregnant women until term - I think we should revive the custom for all those with talking foetuses)

geez, I don't know any woman that has PMT for 27days, I sure don't .......a womans cycle is generally 28 days and some women will experience a few days of PMT or PMS.

I don't have PMS in RL. However, for a few days about a week before my period the whole world turns against me. The traffic is slower, the lines are longer, men get stupider, etc.

I just don't know how the rest of the world knows that my period is going to start in a week. :) :)

.... I haven't seen pads or tampons for sale in SL. And does the avatar, really the avatar's owner, know when she is haveing a period?

Actually I am glad that there is that RL problem we don't have in SL.

I don't really deal in "normal" sl pregnancy, we focus more on the erotic quailities of it. Size shape curve.

ROTFLMAO!
So you can get tampons in SL, along with a bat for use during PMS getting people out of the way. :)

Are you by any chance having those few days now?

Hmm...

To put it another way: are the services of a man required at any point?
No.

OMG! *grabs a sign and mails off hundreds of pamphlets with pictures of deleted prims to shock the SL community into not deleting any more prims*

Let me think. What animal has a gestation of two years? I think it must be something large, like an elephant or whale.

Rhaorth, you are about to give birth to a whale!! :)

I think the killer whale (which isn't really a whale) has the longest of the sea creatures at about 1.5 years (517 days). Whereas the African elephant has the longest overall at 660-760 days.
(you didn't really care, huh?)

Baby African elephants are really cute, Rha. Elephants only get ugly when they get bigger.

The whole talking tummy thing would be cured with llOwnerSay.

To F'n TRUE! If others want to interact with baby, let them click on mommies tummy and receive interactive content VIA IMs that are appropriate to there interaction. Or if is there are those that are closely related to mommy and want updates on her then can recieve updates by IM if they are close to her. Otherwise please fo the love of all dear spirits keep your tummies TMI to yourself! Honestly don't care much if they wear a pregnant tummy shape, to all there own, but if your tummy disrupts events at our club you will be told to turn off the baby monitor you wallowed and if you refuse you will be shown the door.

Note to all expecting mothers of SL, I DO NOT! care if baby is making you have to go pee, wince and bare it if you must, otherwise go find a rest room and do not disturb the general public that could not give a damn. I am all for you emursing yourself in your pregnancy roleplay, I am not even against seeing your pregnant tummy even in a itsy bitsy bikini, but I DO NOT! want to know things that only the mother should know unless she herself is inconsiderate to blurt out TMI everywhere she goes.

I think it's time to get out one of my male alts, give it a mean looking av and start kicking women with tummy talkers in the belly just to see if they miscarry..

sure it is mean especialy to those who had miscarried in RL but if they want others to be drawn in their RP then they should be prepared for everything.

When I RP as a child in public places like amusement parks I am prepared for child haters, kidnappers and dirty old men, offcourse I'm a pyromancer kitten so setting them on fire is a natural defence for me not available to rl kids sadly.

Not a whale? Killer Whales are mammals in the order Cetacea, and are in the suborder Odontoceti (toothed whales). The other suborder (Mysticeti) are the baleen whales, who are filter feeders, so maybe that is what you mean by not really whales.

All of which is totally irrelevant to this thread, really. Having family involved in the marine sciences does funny things to the brain. And can cause huge embarrassment when visiting zoos and aquariums when I start talking about that stuff.

This is why I say it is not really a whale:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orca

"The Orca or Killer Whale (Orcinus orca), less commonly, Blackfish or Seawolf, is the largest species of the dolphin family. ...
Orcas are sometimes mistakenly thought of or labeled as whales"

And then there is the False Killer Whale:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_Killer_Whale

"The False Killer Whale (Pseudorca crassidens) is a cetacean and one of the larger members of the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae). .. As its name implies, the False Killer Whale shares characteristics with the more widely known Orca ("killer whale";). The two species look somewhat similar and, like the orca, the False Killer Whale attacks and kills other cetaceans. However, the two dolphin species are not closely related."

Yes, many of us a bit too geeky here sometimes. We now return you to your original program.
