Hey guys... first of all, to each his own and I know some people think that having a baby in SL is the stupiest thing since the open source sims.... but the truth of the matter is that many cannot have a child in RL. Many cannot have a child in RL with their partner in SL; and some just like the roleplay and experience of the pregnancy. I noticed there is not alot posted about pregnancies and how to get pregnant. I have had many clients come in clueless and tell me that whomever from whatever clinic didnt answer their questions so I will explain a little about this. And if anyone is interested in my services(and that is NOT why I am doing this) then you can send me a private IM inworld and I will be happy to chat with you. Most that want the "totally realistic" experience buy the tantra HUD. This mimics the female menstrual cycle and you dont really know when you get pregnant until you actually do. I used it personally and I loved not knowing. It makes things with your partner very interesting, to say the least. Those that just wish to get pregnant right now should find a nice clinic with friendly people (and trust me, there are some in SL that are friendlier than others) and talk to the staff about your wishes. I personally dont mind getting IMs from potential clients anytime. Most clinics have set hours that their staff is willing to help them. I do not as my RL prevents them (exams and deliveries are scheduled by all clinics I believe and this is the way it should be), so I am available anytime for questions, help, etc. The three things you are going to need to make the pregnancy a realistic roleplay experience are a prim baby, a talking tummy, and a prenatal package. Depending on the clinic there are several options available. Ask your chosen clinic what options they have. The newer prim babies are more expensive but more realistic looking and interactive than the older ones. However, many like the older ones and I find them very cute as well. The talking tummy (two vendors are Baby Whispers and Fixed Bit) is what give you the cravings, lets you sing to your unborn child, lets friends and family interact just as in RL. This is able to be detached and will not lose its settings for your due date, etc. The prenatal package normally includes a complete exam with vital signs, sonogram and pics, questions, and all the things that make it good roleplay. I would suggest making sure the "doctor" you choose in the clinic actually knows what they are doing so that you are getting the most for your money. The package also normally includes a delivery via stork or in the clinic (most like to have clinic). The delivery, as with the exam, is totally roleplayed even as far as pushing the baby out and putting in the baby warmer, monitoring both parent and baby and all things that normally go along with a true delivery. My prenatal package also includes a set of pregnancy shapes but if your chosen clinic does not include these there are many wonderful shapemakers in SL and these are not too hard to find. I hope that this will help the couple who wants a child but feels intimidated entering a clinic and not knowing a thing about the process. I found that when my best friend in SL was expecting she went through alot before understanding the process, she had problems finding a nice clinic to work with her, and a whole lot of other issues that we wont even discuss because I want this to be positive for everyone. This is the reason I want to let everyone that cares know up front what to expect and long story short, I delivered her baby for her... he was beautiful and they are a loving and happy family. SL pregnancies can be the most rewarding or the most confusing and frustrating experiences you have. Bottom line... find a clinic that is open to whatever you want (whether it is a demon baby, a werewolf, or a purple elephant), that is nice and friendly, and that actually has TIME for you because if they dont have the time to answer your question with a smile then they probably wont be able to give you what you need when the time comes to bring your loving baby into the world. I hope this helped some of you that might have been confused.... those that dont care for pregnancy lets be nice and understand that this is our "second life" and in it we can do what we choose... so respect each other and lets all live in peace and harmony and all that stuff If you have any further questions feel free to IM me as I most likely wont check the private IMs here. I will be more than happy to walk you through, step by step, what you can look forward to and what the "true" experience will be like. Much love and good luck in your families!

OK this might sound lioke a stupid question but it is not possible to accidently get pregnant on SL or anything? I am assuming now that one would have to WANT this to happen and buy the huds and all? I completely understand wny someone would want to have a baby on SL of course, maybe they can't RL... But it cannot happen without huds and intent right? I mean it takes more than picking up one of the poseballs with a partner at the other...? I mean maybe that sounds dumb but for a short time I had this guy I was kind of seeing, and well, RL I would be expecting by now... Thanks. After just finding Alyse and asking, she says one has to WANT to get pregnant, it doesn't happen accidently or unintentinally just because one is "with" someone... Thank you Alyse.

ok now I do have a question. Is there any way to be without the baby doing the talking?
I mean it disrupts classes and such to have it say Mary Janes baby is moving or what ever?

I hope you are more respectful of your clients, many of whom do indeed come to you out of emotional pain, than you are of the rules in these forums. From: someone Resident: Alyse Benelli

Hey I've a question, and you did give a partial answer already (thank you!)
I'd like the name of every brand of pregnancy babbler so that I can mute them and not have to deal with the chat spam.
I'm sure there are more than the two you mentioned.
thank you in advance to anyone who will provide other object names so I can tuck them onto my mute list.

B Agreed! I fully respect a player's choice of rp.. including pregnancies. Thats their choice and no one should say otherwise. But please! No tummy talkers... it makes my eye twitch. Babies don't talk in the tummy in rl. Pregnancy is a wondrous thing.. whether it be in RL or SL (or even both). If you want to rp along with a pregnancy then do the talking yourself and emote the feelings... not letting a script and menu run through a cycle of phrases.

I was out dancing one night and the "expectant mother" was out there on the dance floor really gyrating around with the "tummy" talking intermittently.

What I find amusing is the mimicking of the Menstrual Cycle. Do you get some Prim Pads or Tampons with that?? And do they talk?

From: Tod69 Talamasca What I find amusing is the mimicking of the Menstrual Cycle. Apparently it's just like real life - a monthly cycle with PMT lasting 27 days. Pep (There was a culture which shut away in complete isolation all pregnant women until term - I think we should revive the custom for all those with talking foetuses)

To all in earshot, it only sounded like 'grmmmblerummble', but translated it was "GIMME FOOD RIGHT NOW OR YOU WILL BE HURLING WITHIN FIVE MINUTES!" (Cheerios or crackers shut it up nicely until it was mealtime) Sending you good luck wishes Betty!

I have a friend who kept a pregnant figure in SL during the term of her RL pregnancy (she grew in SL as she grew in RL) and that was cute but then I never heard her tummy say a word.
Tummy talkers are annoying as hell. Please, if you really feel the need to mimic a pregnancy on SL...spare us. We don't care, we don't want to hear about it, I'm not a violent person but if I hear one more baby kick mayhem may ensue.

From: Phoenixa Sol thank you in advance to anyone who will provide other object names so I can tuck them onto my mute list. Sorry, won't work. Any of them that are better than freebies are either custom named or rename themselves, so the only thing that works is to mute the people who wear these things, one at a time. Full disclosure: When I was a newbie scripter, I custom scripted for an "OB/GYN" who sold these accursed things--both the pregnant tummies and the prim babies. I even made him a "baby builder" that was essentially a self-serve vendor of one-off customized babies. Back then it was early days in the Maternity biz, and we introduced some fairly clever tricks, but I'm ashamed to say that my scripts babbled on mindlessly with no means short of detaching the prims to get them to STFU. As with most of my custom scripting projects, that OB/GYN skipped town owing me a pile of L$s, so I have these potentially freebie full-perm tummies and babies. And a delivery vehicle. Consider yourself warned.

And annoy the hell out of all of those around you. Having been annoyed by two "babies" at my fashion shows this weekend, I *really* dislike this pregnancy play even more than I already did...and that was a lot. You FORCE those around you to participate in your RP whether they want to or not. Rude....just rude. At least Bloodlines ASKS me to participate.

Now Here's a REALLY Evil Tummy Talker
12-08-2008 08:24
http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=970314And then there's the talking prim babies... Went to a (formerly) regular dance club some months back, to see everyone ooohing and aaahing over something on a table in the middle of the dance floor. Cammed over to see a prim baby in a bassinet. Ok...this was the type of dance club where most everyone knew everyone. Then the prim baby started "talking" - all through the night while we had gone out to have a fun night dancing we heard the baby say it had pooped its pants, needed to be burped, and other such lovely sentiments. (We muted the prim and never returned.)
