From: Petite Pixie It's quite easy to find a fake that's for sure just by asking a few questions like. What are the most important qualities a Master/Mistress needs to have in a D/s BDSM relationship.. A real Master Mistress would know that one and most would not. That being said earlier this year I was playing a slave in Gor when became involved with a Mistress who buys and sells slaves in SL Gor. Now that isn't anything unusual and so I didn't think much of it until I saw a pattern and looked into it closer. What I found out was disturbing and shocking. This women (I assumed) was not just buying and selling slaves in a fictional world but was convincing some very naive women into believing a real life master is what they really wanted. I was told by her that she did indeed sell women to real life masters and that is was consensual and she said if I was interested she had one who was interested in me and she would get me travel arrangements to Taiwan to meet with this "master". My first thought was to get out of there and so I did. I've heard of places that lure women into asian countries, take their passports and force them into slavery for prostitution. I never really believed it. What I do know is some of these women that she "sells" never seem to return to Second Life. What that means is anyones guess. It might even be what it appears to be. Very scary stuff. I've heard too many stories of people, in SL, doing RL damage to subs/slaves by various means, some requiring the cooperation of the sub and some not. All I can say is people, don't do anything unsafe no matter who tells you to do it. Realize that giving out RL information to the wrong person can be hugely risky and make sure you've got safety plans if you do decide to meet RL. Don't give your money to someone you've never met. Do not travel so far from your home you can't return, and don't go off with people you don't know. There's no way for anyone to know who is who in SL, and it wouldn't be hard for a con artist or an abuser to fake their way into the trust of a lot of people. Just like exploiters do in RL. Well, all this stuff is why I say an organized community is important, and why I get suspicious when I see someone starting to badmouth those organized communities, whether it's BDSM, Gor or any other community that's got some standards. When someone starts badmouthing their peers, what are they doing, that it can't take the light of day? I'm not saying this applies to the OP necessarily (they are probably just noobs) but there's a greater risk when you're dealing with a lone wolf.

I feel strongly that this AV should be reported to LL for investigation. I would not report the incident to RL authorities, because nothing wrong actually occurred, and words are cheap. I think only way these communities will be permitted to survive in SL is if they are self-policing. And besides, it's only decent to try to prevent others from being hurt. p.s. If this AV is still around, and you wanted some help getting them to say the same thing again and this time go further, well ... I have an alt who can talk the talk. Unscrupulous Masters/Mistresses, quite frankly, piss me off.

You're right about the self-policing of communities, although the reach of virtual laws and consensus will be limited when most of us are anonymous. But I know many do try to protect the subs and slaves from harm, and I think it matters. If nothing else, it gives people in trouble someone to talk to, and that's often enough to find a solution. But for RL reporting.. if anyone does have any info RL authorities could use, might as well share it. If nothing comes of it, no harm done either. You never know what snippet of information might be hugely useful to an investigator at a later date. The worst that would happen is that you'd get a condescending smile.
