Hi, I'm fairly new to SL, just started to play here a bit w Montian Gilruth this past year and am starting to do some solo shows as well. I find SL a bit overwhelming at times and want to check out some more music.....
I'm wondering/asking..... who are your favorite performers on 2ndlife? and why.... please try to describe to us what makes them special if you care to......
Just having a bit of fun while researching...... would love to check them out! Thanks, Fred

In no particular order:
Komuso Tokugawa Noma Falta Von Johin Tallguy Kidd Hathead Rickenbacker Micki Underwood
I like them because all are outstanding musicians. Noma has an absolutely fabulous voice also, as does Tallguy. Tallguy writes some very creative, excellent songs.
Komuso, Noma and Hathead play together in live, over the net jam sessions occasionally and those will rock your socks off.
I highly recommend any of these folks.

Raven Kondor is a great entertainer. He has a very sexy voice and sings Neil Diamond covers, as well as classic rock tunes from everyone from Clapton to Skynyrd. INXS, Dire Straits, Elvis and more. No originals, but the best parties in SL. Very high energy shows.

Oh how did I miss this thread? Well of course there's CQ Bravin and PM Bookmite, and not just because I manage them either. But other than that:
Phemie Alcott, Sylar morrissey, raspbury rearwin, digby smalls, damian carbenell, and blindboy gumbo.
Honestly there's so many diverse artists out there it's hard to pick just one or two favorites.

Here's my top picks: Winston Ackland - for doing covers of songs and bending them into tracks that sound better than the originals, for doing originals that are amazing and stay in your head for weeks, for having a song that he finishes with each gig that makes you smile and want to hear it again and again, and for being one of the nicest, humblest and least egotistical man in SL. Blindboy Gumbo: Slide guitar to die for - nuff said Linus Radford: Does a crazy muppet song, and has a silky smooth voice. Xengu Kurka: Johnny Cash - need I say more? Ish and Neekie Lednev - huge talent - amazing voices, some great stuff. Pet hates of mine: Backing tracks - the guys above use their voices and their talents at playing instruments.

I have to say Toxic.... I'm getting tired of hearing backing tracks myself.... not really live is it? More like karaoke..... lazy musicianship if you ask me.... it takes guts to go out and play w/o all the computerized adornments, lol.
That being said.... why not come and hear me play at heron island tonight @6. No backing tracks..... just me and my guitar!

If I wanted to start up my own acoustic thing. How could I go about setting that up? I'm thinkin something like my character and me on the mic with my acoustic playing cover songs. How could I do this?

Ganjo Mokeev is also a very cool singer-songwriter. MichelleD Ecksol recently played on a sim I hang out on and was a lot of fun too. Have also been to a Noma Falto gig was also a great night.
I miss Hali Heron. Haven't seen him around for ages, and he used to do some awesome gigs!

From: Funkyfreddy Republic I'm getting tired of hearing backing tracks myself.... not really live is it? More like karaoke..... lazy musicianship if you ask me.... now , i never considered myself lazy ? i spend hours on creating my backing tracks ( yes i am recording them myself ) Orginals have to be recorded anyway, but my covers are being turned upside down. An average cover backing takes me a few hours to record, lots of time to think about how to change it. so is that is lazy, then im guilty And euhhh, i dont sing, i play only guitar
