Ooooooh yes, let me tell you, it is fun to embarrass them! The thing is, most of them get to a certain point at various ages where your mere EXISTANCE is a huge embarassment. So you might as well give it some extra panache! I saw a Rosanne Barr show once or something where she did things like cram her finger into her nose just to embarrass her kids. I wouldn't do that, but I have done other things. Breaking into song and dance in public is a good one, haha. I always intended to show up at my older daughter's school, when she was going through the worst of that phrase, in full biker get-up (it was a private school she was going to at the time). I still regret not doing that, but I never got around to shopping for the leather mini-skirt and cleavage-baring neckline I was planning on. She's in college now, and probably wouldn't bat an eyelash if I did that. coco

From: Joy Honey I am sooo embarrassed about this, but what do you say to your mother when she qualifies voting for Bush in these ways: You should listen to her, she is smart.

From: Chip Midnight I think there should be a prerequisite quiz people have to take before being allowed to vote in which they must prove a certain level of knowledge about current events, the main issues of the day, and the platforms of the major candidates. If you fail you can't vote. YES!!

If you fail you can't vote. Haha, people that can't win elections always come up with little plans like this. "Ok, only people that pass this little test that I've put together are allowed to vote now! Hm, all of the people that don't see the world the same way that I do aren't allowed to vote now. Bonus!"

I know the kind of people you'd like to see addressing the President. Those maniac hippies that start screaming dirty words and unfurling insane signs. They represent you, I guess. Adults don't bother to listen to people like that. Those people, just like a lot of people here, aren't interested in debate. They're only interested in screaming and yelling their own views about things, without listening to what anyone else has to say.

LOL, I love how you jump right to the extreme and attribute it to me to invalidate my argument. Nice try, Einstein, but no, that's not at all what I'd want. I think Bush's town halls should be open to ALL citizens who wish to participate, not only to hand selected supporters who must sign a loyalty oath before they can get in the door and ask a question. Extremist protesters are no more useful than partisan kiss asses. We need intelligent debate, not pissing contests or mutual appreciation societies.

The problem is that there are a tremendous amount of people in the US that hate Bush with a burning passion, and it makes no sense to let any of those people ask him direct questions. They have lost their minds, and nothing he says to them would make any difference. People with tremendous hatred of Bush have plenty of other ways to have their voices heard. There are plenty of very big newspapers that see things the same way as those people do. Don't worry, Bush knows all about their little theories and conspiracies. There's nothing he could ever say to help them get educated, so what's the difference? Again, you're the one that wants to make a little test to prevent people that see things differently than you from voting, not Bush. Perhaps you should think about that.

Just like there are a tremendous amount of ignorant uninformed people who are unqualified to render an intelligent vote, and it makes no sense to let them unless they first educate themselves on the issues. I never said I wanted to prevent people with different opinions than mine from voting. Only people who are too uninformed to vote intelligently, based on the issues instead of the physical attractiveness of the candidate or his/her religion. For someone who claims to look at the big picture you sure don't demonstrate any ability to look at anything in terms other than the extremes.

The only reason you want to give people a test before they vote is because you don't like who won the last election. If Kerry had won, you wouldn't be saying such silly things. Therefore, you want to prevent people that won't vote for the same person as you from voting. You can pretend that that's not what you want, but that's not the case.

Either that or you're just an extremist who won't believe anything anyone says unless it fits your narrow and simplistic worldview. I think I'll go with the latter and shall refrain from engaging you in debate as it is obviously a complete waste of my time.

Besides, who is going to decide which people are informed enough to vote intelligently? The system is one person, one vote. Period. As it should be. coco

From: Joy Honey Snip... Why can't there be more informed voters out there? snip... I wonder about this too because if there had been more informed voters... President Bush would have won in a landslide.

No, he lost because many Republicans don't believe in a lot of the things he believes in. That's the same reason he won't win the nomination in 08 if he runs.

I will happily agree to disagree here. Just remember that there are other opinions than yours with just as good reasons for our opinions. Do not take my response as a flame please. It was intended as a response only. I have no interest in this exploding into a flame war and simply ask that you respect my opinion as I do yours.
