From: Chris Ellsworth I play the game for more than just cyber sex. The problem I ran into is, when I started my character..I used the Nightclub Male shape and it put me into that range. Just never have ever really slimmed down yet. I get alot of compliments on the way I look, but maybe they were just being nice. I will have to rethink my AV shape when I get back in (if we do). I didn't mean to shove all guys with big avs under a blanket statement. It's just a very large majority of the game is like that.

From: Artemis Fate From what it sounds like, you've got 5 years of Observation Actually, I think he was doing more than observing - I think he was (and still is by his nym) playing quite an active role in pretending he's female. His "observations" are actually his own leanings.

*giggles* The large tree trunk hulk male AV's MUST have some effect on female AVs. I mean, when I stand next to one they are so much larger and wider than I. I coudlnt' ever picture any kind of intimate contact with such an over sized thing as that. *huggles* Sav

It's just a very large majority of the game is like that. Oh I know, I didn't take offense to what you said at all. I was just making a statement that if you start with that AV you start out in that range. I have new hair, new skin, new clothes, new boots, just never thought about a new shape. I really would like some ideas on how to slim myself down if anyone would care to help. Thanks!

K, my preference for male SL avs:
Normal head, shoulders at the same width as your hips, waist only slight less than that, muscles only to about 40-50ish, your arms only come down to the end of your tush (yes some guys have gorilla arms), and a lil meat in the middle to counter all this.
Not exactly the Terminator look. I made a male shape for a friend of mine who could only find the huge guy look and he hated it, so I did one. Me as a male isn't pretty (still had on my chick skin), but it's decent.

If you notice I never explicitly insulted you, I just asked a question. As I said, I belittled an ignorant prig, if that somehow offends you, I would like to know why. Also apparently yer momma didn't teach you the very same lesson.. course mine never did, she taught me there is alot of bullshit in the world, and you should know how to identify it. And as such I am identifying someone using juvenile insults against me for some as yet undecided reason.. now see that is an insult.

I am a guy. No really. I have some very sexy female avatars, bewbs not too big, not too little. IRL I like smaller, firmer breasts but I also like women with a nice buxom shape too. I'm not terribly hung up on them but when they get huge, they get gross. To each their own I guess. Anyway, I use my female avatars occasionally for two reasons, one I get real tired of looking at a guy's ass all day in SL. Second, there just really isn't anything to buy for a male avatar really. No shirt, torn jeans, surfer hair and some biker boots and yer stylish. Costumes perhaps like a samuri or Superman or what have you but not a whole lot else. When I do don the fem avatar I do not pretend to be female in RL. I don't pretend to be a lesbian either. I just don't feel right doing it and it does nothing for me anyway (not that I haven't enjoyed watching two ladies enjoy each other, I just don't get off on gender switching as such). Yeah, boring but what the heck.. My main male avatar is tall and broad shouldered because both my girlfriend and my sister in RL say it is the sexiest shape for a guy. I was using a rather normal and not terribly bulked up shape until they were done and I became a young Christopher Reeves. I have to trust that they know what is sexy to women.. they being women and all.

When we get back in I am really going to work on my look. I have never really cared for the HULK look either. But you go to most places and it's how most guys look. I just kinda followed in their footsteps. Time to take up arms (pun intended) and redo my shape!!

Yes, but in Second Life you have Fabio vs Fabio the size of Andre the Giant. Just Fabio isn't good enough, they need to be at least 10' tall and 5' wide else they look on smaller males as lesser life forms and equal sized males as "I can take him out." *laughs* Sav

I'm not exactly sure how i'd describe it. But, keeping in mind that this is still fake, and if you are to realistic you will end up looking really weird in contrast to most guys in game. (Which is something to keep in mind, while no muscles and normal sized is what most guys are, if you stuck them next to 50 pro football players, they will look really small and weak in comparison). I tend to go for more of a...jean claude van dam body type if that makes sense. Or even Toby Maguire in spiderman. Or um Ryan Reynolds in blade 3. Lean muscular. Like their body size isn't really huge, but they are have muscles. So if they wear a tshirt it's not abnormal. But if they wear a form fitting tanktop, you know they are ripped. Other then that, height is up to you. I reccomend staying in the fairly tall range, as once again, you will look like a kid or stumpy next to all the huge guys if you try to be short and are making the appropriate adjustments to muscles to stay within a decent ratio. Hope that all makes sense. =P

From: Chris Ellsworth Ok as a afterthought on this..why don't some of the women in this thread tell us what they would like to see the men in SL look like. Give us some ideas on how to be more creative with our AV look. Help us to look how you would like us to look. ok 6'2" (or there abouts) A soft build, not wimpy but not muscle bound either and carry the shapre of your arms and pec's down the rest of your body you head should be in proportion with your body and I'll tell you feel free to IM me in game (if we ever get in game lol) and I'll be glad you yell "stop" while your working the sliders if your having probs. Really what I'm saying is proportions proportions proportions Any size can look good if it is proportionate

Edit: Completely unrelated note: There is the same kind of issues with short peoples as tall peoples. If you try to make a short avatar it either looks way, way too small, or average height, depending upon your company.. I think it might just be the fact that not alot of people choose middling heights. o.x;

Any size can look good if it is proportionate I always wonder what people think of my shape. It's kind of the only part of my AV that is really custom. So I consider it pretty important.

Hm. Well, let's see. Of my three most common looks, one is a midsized (for SL, would be tall in RL) and kind of athletic/slender. My dragongirl av is maxed out on height, fairly large chest but in proportion to the rest - very few of the sliders are "absolute", but depends on all the others, after all.
My roleplaying alt actually uses a prim chest, but only because the muscle sliders on female shapes don't function properly, and she's kinda supposed to be built along superheroine-ish lines. The effect is also quite proportional... idealized, but not cartoonish.
