And folks, don't call Bush a Bible-thumper. He only uses the Bible to get votes.

I think the context of calling him a bible-thumper is to equate him to other stupid people, rather than religious zealots.

Eventually, maybe around the time our grandchildren are opening their history books in class, history will hopefully show him for the vile liar that he is. But probably not.

Probably not. Look at Reagan. By the end of his term 138 officials in his administration had been convicted of crimes, indicted, or been the subject of investigations into misconduct or criminal violations. His administration was incredibly corrupt by even modest standards and yet he's held up by the right as some kind of national hero. We have a long sad history of revisionism in this country.

This is why the internet is Goddess-sent, I swear it. A perpetual record of recent events that can be hidden away from even the most destructive revisionists and double-thinkers by a simple matter of hitting ctrl-A, ctrl-c, and ctrl-v.

Well, until it gets privatized and turned into interactive TV at least.

It exists as a way to remove from office presidents who break the law. This one has, brazenly and repeatedly. Personally I doubt he'll be impeached because people are still bitter about the complete abuse of the system during the Clinton witch hunt. The Constitution can't just be ignored when it becomes inconvenient, however. The problem is that partisanship has gotten so out of hand that even legitimate calls for his impeachment will be brushed off as merely the ravings of the radical left.

Chip were congress actively making an effort to truley oppose him instead of playing "I need to get myself re-elected" Id conceede your point.

But they arent. They have the power to stop most of Bush's oportunistic interpretations of the law , without impeachment. But they wont.

Enjoy your own little world.

:)

And this is not directed to the large majority of the people who want Bush impeached.

If political sentiment among voters in the country were truely lined up that overwhelmingly in opposition to Bush, "actively making an effort to truley oppose him" would have been the smart way for them to play "I need to get myself re-elected."

youd think so - however, the voters opinions are only a small slice in the political re-election slight of hand

Funny thing about the whole campaign about hating Bush...what are those ppl gonna do when his term is up. I mean they have built up all that hatred towards a single individual then suddenly he is gone. Ah well. Only Poll I care about are the election returns and they all say that more voting Americans want Bush than dont want him. Hey I got through 8 years of Clinton (OMG) it shouldnt be that hard for you guys to get through 8 years of Bush.

Actually is the same thing that was done during Clinton.

The political process has been over simplified by the media and amoung uneducated people to think that the proper way to handle any President's poor judgement is to impeach him.

Remember Reagan, Carter, Nixon, LBJ.... I left out Ford because, he wasn't so much hated as mostly laughed at and ignored.

There will always be someone to hate, it simplifies the thinking process.;)

Well , true its my opinion.

But I think that Money is every bit as important to someone getting re-elected as voters opinions.

There are other factors such as the ones in power controlling the process, outright Political Machines, etc.

Im not saying it should be that way. Just saying thats the way it is.

Hehe, just wait.
If the next president's a conservative Republican, the left-wing portions of the media will, after a short time, act all shocked and outraged, declaring that Bush was bad, but this new guy is even WORSE; By-far the worst president ever.

Just you wait. The current conservative president is always the worst ever.

Next president needs asbestos undies.

Ah, well this is different from saying "voters opinions are only a small slice in the political re-election slight of hand".

Money is the lifeblood of any campaign as it pays for your staff, campaign operations, polling, etc, which are all focused on getting your message out. But in the end, if the voters don't buy your message or those that do aren't energized to show up and vote, your sunk regardless of how much money you raised.

hmmm no I still think small slice.

Another huge aspect to gettign elected is party affiliation - And that parties endorsement (tacit and behind the scenes) of said candidate.

In my opinion you are not jaded enough about the political process as it has come to exist in America =p.

Still do not think secession by impeachment is a good idea , either.

The Impeachment system does not exist as a means to change policy. Its there to remove tyrants and criminals.

Then we agree. Bush must be impeached.
