Real, and very efficient if you stop to think about it. Efficient is good.

...though I suppose if we all had a fruity oaty bar or three per day, none of that stuff would likely be as necessary.

Speaking of pharmacies, I was at the pharmacy with my wife the other day and there was a person in the drive-thru that was informed by one of the pharmacists that their prescription was going to cost $360 for a 30 day supply with their insurance. It was some kind of antibiotic. You'd have thought it was a miracle cancer curing pill for that much. Crappy insurance I guess.

I have personally had to ring up prescriptions for people that were ten times that amount. It really is getting way out of control.

Edit: the worst I ever saw was a life saving prescription for a man's child. We had to special order it. It was about $1200 for the amount needed. It came as a powder in a glass bottle and we mixed it with water when he paid for it.

Out in the parking lot he dropped it and it broke, so we had to get him another one, which he paid for.

Yeah. I knew there were prescription drugs that were crazy expensive, but I think we were all just shocked that, even with prescription insurance, they were having to pay $12/pill for antibiotics.

There is a nausea medication for people on chemotherapy called Anzemet. It goes for about $75 a tablet. So even with a 20% copay, which is pretty common these days, you are still going to pay $15 a tablet. More and more people these days have 50% or even 80% copays.

From what I hear though, it's not a medication that they can just "do without". =/

On one hand the price is outrageous. On the other hand, it's better than not having it at all.
