Before long I won't have any big evil corporations to hate. :) If those fools hadn't protested I wouldn't have heard of the good things these companies are doing.

Ah sh*t - i hope this isnt read wrong - but here goes.......

the law stated does cover homosexuality - but in a circular way - by claiming that homosexual people are normal

is being gay a sensory problem? nope... (even if my gay mate really does think metallica doesnt kick ass - thats because hes a twit not because he's gay)

is being gay a mental problem? nope.... (even if u did think it was thats covered..)

is homosexuals considered a race? no (covered it u thought...)

is being gay a disability? nope (again - if u beleived it was its covered...)

is 'homosexuality' considered a religious beleif? not really (again..read above)

is being gay.....etc etc etc

There for - the person is a 'normal human being' and cannot be disallowd work for only liking half of T&A

my 1/2 shilling and 6pence
(althou simple adding 'sexual preference' would help sort the process out)

It is, occasionaly, trying.

Sigh.

You want to tell me I'm living a sinful life? Fine, knock yourself out. You're free to do that.

You wanna stand outside a funeral and mock the dead for being a "faggot"? Fine. It makes you a royal asshole, but again, knock yourself out.

Now, you want to denounce gay marriage? Ok, fine, I'm cool with that. I wasn't planning on getting married anyhow. It says something about your character, but fine, I can live with that. I can at least, if nothing else, see your logic. You have some valid points, even if I disagree with them, they are at least points of a sort.

But dangit, boycotting an entire company that employs a hojillion people because they won't be biggoted? Did you sleep through sunday school, you kumquat-brained halfwits?

Well said!

In an ideal world, we wouldn't need any protective laws, but (at least here in the U.S.) companies n some states are legally allowed to fire a current employee simply because they are gay. It doesn't matter how good of an employee they are, once the boss finds out - you're toast. Same goes for landlords.

I'm trying to think of an example of this law. Imagine if because you were gay you could not find work, or a home, or be treated at certain medical facilities, or use a public restroom, or drinking fountain.

It reminds me of something but I just can't put my finger on it...

Oh yes...

Because Macintosh and Linux are both so homophobic?!?!? (NOT!)

I can see it now. "Ack! Get back in the car Martha! We're going back to Microsoft!"

Oddly, his comments remind me of Alby's.

*ding ding ding ding ding*

Had the same deja vu in an earlier thread. What a stankleberry.

And just how will those folks in that congregation assure themselves that every single last product or service they purchase, use or buy will have been provided by an organization in line with their beliefs? However one might feel about their boycott and reasoning, they're gonna be creating a nearly impossible task for themselves.

What about companys that employ folks that are gay but aren't out of the closet or haven't realized it or are celibate? What about companys that simply conduct business with OTHER companys that support ideas they don't like? And so on ...

It's awful to be faced with wanting to support things you believe in and to not assist those you don't and know that many things one does on a daily basis will undoubtably conflict with one's desires, morals and sentiments.

Consider a staunch vegan, trying to live an animal-torture free life. Buy a book. Did anything that went into creating that book, writing it, editing it, printing, delivering and selling that book cause an animal to die? Can one isolate their "wake" from the rest of the world?

Nope. As hard as we try it's nearly impossible. Ok, if one were to go out into the proverbial woods, live off the land 100% and such, maybe. Go naked. No tools. Start from scratch. Mine your own ore, make your own knife, axe what have you. Make your own rope, cloth, clothing etc. Then and only then can one truly isolate their economic effect well enough to be sure that nothing they do will support a cause they do not believe in.

How many of us are willing to do that? Even a fraction of that? Do those folks ever enjoy a Rock Hudson movie? Watch Ellen or Rosie? The list goes on.

Yes I think they're bone heads, but that's my opinion and they're welcome to their own. If they feel that they shouldn't buy MicroSoft product, then they shouldn't. I have a feeling that natural selection will resolve their issues. When they find that they're unable to get the word out on the net, or print up nifty flyers or any number of other handy communication type things due to a MS connection, it will cause them great difficulty.

Will Bill Gates face any hardship? Doubtful. It's more likely that this will be seen as publicity, positive probably. So they've succeeded in promoting their adversary, and diminishing their ability to combat the same. More power to them!

But that's just me and my tree-hugging, pro-choice, pro-GLBTVTSeverybodyelse opinion. It's good that they can state theirs, and act upon it. It really is. I'm just not worried that they'll do much to hurt my enjoyment of the same option.
