There. I said it. I heard on the news tonight that the total projected cost of the Iraq war is US$1 trillion. That's twelve zeroes. That's US$3,300 from every person in the U.S. -- US$10,000 from my household alone (using the average). ![]() ~Ulrika~ _____________________

Great. Now I have Frank Sinatra in my head singing "Fly me to the Moon"
I wonder if I can claim him as a dependent... |

I don't know about any rogues, but I defy a regular citizen to use this to their advantage. The IRS is nearly impossible to defy even when you are completely letter tight. I have done work both for and against the IRS and they are a formidable opponent.
EDIT: I'm talking about practical application not the letter of the law. I have been close to a few libertarians that wasted a ton of money trying to prove a point. _____________________

Me too. Not paying taxes on account of a low dosh-receiving situation. The last time I took my papers into the local tax office for scrutiny I swear they nearly took up a collection*.
. . . . . * For UK tax people, no not a Collection. _____________________

I can attest to this, my poor husband made an truly honest mistake and you cannot believe how impossible these people were to deal with. Absolutely NONE of the departments spoke to each other. So we would get assurances and settlements from one department and then Collections would go ahead and just absolutely stomp the shit out of us. To this day we have no confirming documentation, two years later (70% in penalties later), though they have finally quit stomping this shit out of us. They have no mercy, they have no organization, they do not care about the tax payer. After this experience I will never, ever, trust our goverment again. ever. . _____________________

Apparently Quebecers are the highest taxed people in North America. I work for the government until August each year. If someone could tell me I'm wrong about this, I would probably feel a lot better about life.
When you think about it, the only things you really HAVE to do in this world is pay taxes and die. _____________________

well... a "rogue" former IRS agent has won a major lawsuit in regards to it... Don't believe everything you read Mulch, he's still fighting. And asking for your money to help him. I wish him luck, cuz I hate paying taxes too and watching our schools go slowly down the chute. |

Well, you don't have to pay tax. Probably a good idea to, though.

I'm sick of paying taxes and having half of it go to the military-industrial complex. I'd rather it go to education and welfare. I heard on the news tonight that the total projected cost of the Iraq war is US$1 trillion. That's twelve zeroes. That's US$3,300 from every person in the U.S. -- US$10,000 from my household alone (using the average). ![]() Yes, we should stop having a military. There isn't even any reason to have one! We need to give people more free money. Every good socialist knows that giving people things for free is what makes a country great. It doesn't even cause more problems! Seriously! I wonder how all of the people that complained about the US getting involved in the war in Europe and the reconstruction afterwards felt about themselves 10 or 20 years after the war was over. I would think that they felt pretty stupid. That's why you don't ever hear about those folks these days. But I guess there will always people that repeat the mistakes of the past. It's too easy to forget when you block out anything that you don't want to hear about. |

There. I said it. You can probably move to an abandoned island somewhere and not pay taxes anymore. |

Haha, yes, the US is suddenly going to declare that it's unconstitutional to force people to pay taxes. Also, we are going to launch all of our nuclear missiles at our own cities. |

It certainly is ridiculous to look at an existing system critically and with an eye toward creating efficiencies and transparency.
Why do you people complain so much? You all obviously never leave the house, otherwise you would know how awesome everything is. _____________________

Will there be fruity drinks, rum and men in small speedos? No, you would most likely have to pay some sort of taxes to acquire any of those things. |

In fact this year, I think I'll donate the other half of my salary to the canadian government so that our governor general, Adrian Clarkson can buy another dress, or taker her posse on another worldwide tour to the tune of 5 million. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1076676942066_12/ _____________________
