Well, i use Windows XP because i spent a lot of time to learn how to use it (and the API).
If i had bought a Mac or installed Linux many years ago, i would probably use that now.
As long as you understand how to use your Machine / OS you will be fine.
I used Mac only 2 times (they are very rare in Germany) and i had a hard time
with the Keyboard Layout and GUI (its different, not bad).
I dont care about other Peoples Machines, its not my Business.
There is no 'best' OS/Machine - fighting about that is just plain stupid.

Why do people fight about this stuff? Because after investing a few hundred or thousand in a machine the LAST thing they are going to do is admit they may have backed the wrong horse lol.

There are advantages to Windows for sure, but this was a poor choice of example. My G5 desktop comes complete with all the software to play movies, music, slideshows etc. right out of the box and its all controlled by an ultra slick 3d interface and a tiny iPod like remote that sticks magnetically to the side of the computer. The capabilities are awesome, the interface is minimal and intuitive you don't have to buy a whole second computer for your living room to use it. The media centre remote has what, fifty buttons or something? The most up-to-date incarnations of media centre are left in the dust by what Mac is already shipping with every computer for free. yes I have seen it, and it does movies and such wonderfully, however its kinda nice being able to record my tv shows. Since my media center is used primarily as a TV tuner and after searching apple's website for about 30 minutes I don't see one that comes standard. So please link to what you are talking about. edit, I found it, however its a $250 add on not included in the base package unlike the HP tuner that came with my laptop

Really though, I use a PC because they are the best option for gaming within my budget. And since I am Jake the all wise, if I prefer a PC over a MAc, well that is the only reasonable choice for a computer.
I love my I-pod though.

No, it wasn't actually targeted at Ulrika. There were a few posts by others in the Mac threads that sounded a lot like Kevn. IIRC none of them were by Urlka/Uma.

i won't use osX or windows XP because i can't stand the waste of cpu time spent on shit like the dock or curved start menu (let alone all the other useless sparklies these two os have)
i stick to windows 2003R2, the latest server OS from M$, the os that doesn't hold your damn hand at every step you do with colorfull effects everywhere. I would use linux, but as game hungry i am i can't (linux is still very good to me)

BTW- in Windows XP Pro, I have all that "coloring book" crap turned off. IF I ever switch to Vista (which is not till I have to), I will also turn off all the Windows Vista "Bling" as well. |
