Ok lets attend to this quote here and point a few things out. A goth to people's eyes are the kind that dress in black and hates life.. And all this bullshit. I for one am getting sick of this .. Yes some of the gothic type people dress in black and blabber about death and this shit.. Most just do it cause they think its cool. Let me point out to you though not all goths dwell on death and all this good shit. I'm a goth and I don't dress in black.. I do dwell on sad things and even think about death at times.. NO its not because I am a goth.. Its because of two reasons. One I think outside the box and study this thing called death.. Why? Because if I better understand death I will not fear it when the time comes for to die.. I have other reasons why I have studied it (no I don't go out killing people or animals and take them apart to see how they tick) Another reason is the fact I am bipolar and get so sad to the point .. where I want to die. I know this can be fixed by going to a doctor, but I refuse to be depened on a pill to fix my problem. I would reather work through it with people who support me... So I went to get the def. of goth that seems to be the real one. V

A person who likes to dress and act differently to the other people in society, normally dressed in black but some like much brighter colours. They tend to be thinkers and more often than not quite creative. They have a satirical sense of humour, and are able to laugh at both themselves and other people. This type of goth originated in the late 80's with the "death" of punk; goths back then liked the style and the "protection" it offered and so emulated it in their own style. They listen to and appreciate all sorts of good music. They can be gay/depressed/weird/mentally disturbed, but more often than not they are just normal people.


So by this here is basicly what a goth is.

Goth-A person that acts differently to other people in society. They normaly dress in black, but not all goths do. They tend to be thinkers and creative people (this would be me) who has a satyrical sense of humor.

And here what people have come to think of goths

Goth-morbid, suicidal and black-clad

IF YOU WANTED .... a real satanic goth (though they arn't always satanic)

Vampire goth-Often Satanic. Sucks blood from partner and has sex in coffins.

And here is a few other types of goths

Cyber Goth-Loves plastic, nightclubs and the future. Loves (gasp!) bright colors and usually has plastic hair.

Romantic goth-Very elegant. Wears lots of velvet and lace. Aims for Medieval/Victorian look. Loves vampires and poetry

Goth music: Bauhaus, The Cure, Switchblade Synphony, etc. MARILYN MANSON AND LINKIN PARK ARE NOT GOTH MUSIC.

these stories of kids called goth by the media is just a load of bull,
as far as we know it could have been a perfectly normal kid wanting attention, BAM, dad's gun solves everything,

but seriously people follow the leader, its like a town and a mob against frankenstien, just because he looks diffirent makes him a monster, as far as it dates back people think that they know someone by the clothes that they wear or the music they listen to,

and then when people just start to gather braincells to accept that maybe these types of teenagers aren't that bad,

BAM, Media frenzy on a santanic ritual when a guy was trying to make some kraft dinner,

goes the same for Gamers,
people think they are lazy no lifers with no job, no health, and no girlfriends/boyfriends, etc etc,

then some kid tries to put a zillion things in his pants like guybrush threepwood,

and thats all we are going to see for the next few thousand years,

i'm still waiting for the day when young adults AKA teenagers, are respected and not critisized for the things that they do daily, there is other IMPORTANT things that could be on the news right now,

Just ignore all those media fags...They wouldnt what goes on in our minds (Im gothic/emo), I know I wouldnt kill someone, And If I did, It wouldnt be with a piece of molding...And I wouldnt go as drastic as carving our symbol into thier body...Thats just wrong...Though some of the gothic kids do go all out hardcore, Me, I just stick to black clothes and black fingernails, I will never murder anyone...Thats just rediculous...Making a big deal out of something so small....Now...What questions me is how the hell the kid was there, The murder victim obviously invited them to thier "trailer", Or...Couldve broken in and killed her...SO...Basically its the ladys fault, She invited him, OR She didnt have the right security...

If you stand out in a crowd it gives the sheep something to bleat at.

Seriously, the news is going to go for imagery and recognition value, everyone has seen a goth and yet not many people outside of a certain age group know what one is.

If you want to look different and stand out you are giving the rest of the heard something to point at and label as odd, and not normal. Which I think is fine as long as you are not a murdering fuckwit.

but face it. Goth isn't exactly an image one associates with upstanding citizens. When is the last time you saw a group of goths volunteering to work community service and what not?

It's an easily identified stereotype and far too often one that is associated with bad publicity.

We as goths can keep whining and complaining about how we are portrayed in the media or we can actively work to change the image. But I would say the likelyhood of that happening is 0.001%

If anyone can find a charity or community project that's orchestrated by goths... chances are good you might find one or two, but face it organizing goths to do anything "good" is like herding cats.
