From: Inigo Chamerberlin Wakes up, opens eyes - nothing... maybe a little sign floating in the void, 'Sorry, RL is closed to all except employees for essential maintenance' Doesn't happen, does it? Well, it hasn't happened to me.
Well, if anyone woke up and actually saw that, he/she'd think it was a dream or something, so maybe it _has_ happened, but no one took it seriously (kinda like SL.) From: Inigo Chamerberlin At least the RL boss guy got it more or less right in beta, no need for all these dubious updates. AND it only took him seven days according to the records! Literally a world of difference. BUT he had to forcibly (and permanently) eject all the residents at least once. Couldn't have done it with a sign either, had to use all those fancy effects From: Inigo Chamerberlin Another big plus with RL is that graphics rendering is very good. On a clear day you can see 60 miles, rather than the 60 metres at which detail starts vanishing, along with smaller objects in SL lately. True dat. From: Inigo Chamerberlin Oh yeah, finally, you don't have to keep upgrading your hardware to play RL either! Well, like SL, I guess that depends on whether you like to see (and display) the eye candy stuff there are people who specialize in upgrading hardware

Justice in RL ... stop it! I'm trying to drink my water here -- you'll make me spray all over my screen! Justice ... hahahaha ... OMG, that's too much! You big kidder. RL stinks. Are you kidding? You can't teleport, you can die, you can't fly, you're stuck with whatever your sliders were set at, for the most part (very limited room to adjust), and all of that is just for starters! I'd cancel my RL account today, but they have it tied to my SL account so that it would cancel, too.

From: Jake Reitveld Having played RL for almost forty years, and havign tried SL for over a year, I can say that RL is better than SL. There are more subscribers in RL (about 5 billion-more than any other game. And there are no subscription fees, though tier is very expensive it does come in a floating "pay as you use it basis that lets you scale up. Also the economy, while not perfectly stable, remains is a slight period of inflation, but hey, for all you capitalists..there is no geovernment stipend, you have to work to make money, or be area lucky person who inherits or has an easy job.
Competion is killer, and its hard to break inot new markets, but thye have mastered web on a prim, and oh, there are no prim limits for your builds. With a little hard work you can learn how to program, script, or build anything, and with a bit more effort you could even go inot avatar repair, or modification.
Its an a amazing world with plenty to do, even has a 12 year basic tutorial system, with advance tutotrial going on for years after.
There are plaenty of griefers though, and of o course the world is player run..so you have the usual player-politics and popularity contests. The player run gobvernments take a pretty strong stand on griefers, and if combat is what floats your boat, a number of player owned sims operate combat areas- the most popular game being low tech terrorist takes on high tech infantyman.
Of course RL recognizes that Combat isn't for everybody, and the the RL entertainement industry is well developed. In addition RL avatrs require a lot of maintenance, so really with a little work, you can create a whole life style for yourself.
And the physics engine is awesome..perhaps too much so..you can't fly, or jump over buildings at all. Also the number of avatar shapes are limited, but that is because the basic technology of the platform is way beyond cutting edge.
So sign up now and get your Free rl account. And I look forward to seeing you in world. Well - I'd say the RL world is kind of run by griefers. Also, if the technology is so great, why are avatar alterations so expensive? As for stipends, beh. Europe has them. The economy is fucked. Combat spills over into non-combat areas. "Greening" is intensive, and takes up most of your time. And it requires compromising your values, as the people who have most of the resources tend to be griefers or idiots. So I'd certainly not recommend RL, except for the fact that it's free and it's the only world that's got full sensory immersion.

Not to mention RL really does have a FIC, and they're neither nice nor fun people like our fictional FIC.
