From: Sansarya Caligari 1980 Ford Mustang Hatchback--a very bad era in the history of Mustangs altogether, and I got it in 1986, inherited from my mom. Ewwwwwwwwww. Those years of mustangs are so gnarly! The new Mustang is the first one that has looked cool since the classic (although the rear end is a little funky).

Ah my first love - I mean car. She was a 1966 Buick LeSabre. Four door sedan with a dark teal paint job. It had been my grandfathers car and when the tranny started to go he parked it in the yard. Then I was told I could take it over. I was 14 and living in New Hampshire on about 13 acres in the middle of the woods. We had some roads on our property and even with a slipping transmission I drove that car for hours on end through the woods. She had a 350 v8 and that wonderful 2 speed (slip-slide powerglide) automatic transmission. It had sweet black dash covered with shiny chrome. To this day that is still one of the fastest cars I've ever driven. It was fun to take it apart, see what made it tick and put it together again. A year or so later I purchased a 1973 Fiat 310 sedan. We called it my commie car, I even painted it red with a paint brush lol. I could take sharp corners with it and could almost get it to tip on it's side. Those were the days....

From: Gabe Lippmann Good thing you didn't 'splode in that car! LOL! My brother inherited the car from me and he actually got hit in the gas tank! Good thing for him there was hardly any gas in the car.

From: Dianne Mechanique Me too. Never driven one either. What are they for? Wow, I'm suprised there's this many of us in one place. I've managed to make it to 38 years old without ever having a drivers' license even. -Ghoti

My first car was a 1968 Dodge Coronet 500. It had belonged to neighbors whose son had died in Vietnam in 1968, right after he got it, and had sat on concrete blocks for all those years with fewer than 200 miles on the speedometer. A ten year old new car. That car got me into trouble every weekend; way too much car for a sixteen year old. It had an insanely powerful engine and the loosest power steering you ever saw. I was crazy about that car. I can still see the dashboard in my head and smell that smell. When I went off to college my father got me a brand spanking new 1982 CJ8 and I still have it and the damn thing will never die.

My first car was a 1979 Plymouth Volare, which I bought in 1986 for 1000 bucks. By mid 1980's standards, it was kinda large. My brother called it "that big red John Holmes car". It got me around until reverse died. Since then, I've owned: 1986 Mitsubishi Mirage (worst car ever) 1988 Chevy Cavalier 1997 Chevy Cavalier (I still own it) 1996 Dodge Intrepid (totalled back in September) 2002 Pontiac Bonneville (huge, but fast) I really want one of these next time. I hope the concept makes it to production.

From: Lorelei Patel Billy, and anyone else who ever had a Camaro: what do you think of the Camaro concept unveiled this week at the Detroit auto show? I like it. Better than that travesty Pontiac calls a GTO. This car looks like a Camaro. What was old is now new again. BTW, I've never owned a Camaro, but I have driven a few.

1969 Dodge Monaco. Green two door with "Turtle Roof" In other words green vinyl with a reall interesting texture. I loved this car wish I had never gotten rid of. In fact I still read the ads in the paper in hopes someone has one for sale. This car drove like a dream and was fast. Roomy on the inside and enough truck space to smuggle 4 people into the drive in with style.(see if anyone remembers the drive in) The car belonged to parents and they gave it to me. Like a dumb 16 year old with no value for anything I drove it into the ground. Anyone have one like it in thier garage let me know Rox

My first car was a 1982 Chevy Citation with the High Output V6 engine. This was just before they came out with the X-Model which had that engine & it had a spoiler on it. Mine was just an Egg on Wheels. Beige & dark Brown. Lots of trunk space, cheap to fix, went thru snow & ice like a knife thru butter, able to keep up with kids & their Camaros... the lil' bastards. Then one night while driving around with friends, some idiot in a station wagon turned into it. Took out the front end, drivers side door was smashed in, the left front wheel looked like a taco shell, and the frame was bent. And the station wagon? Just a ding in the corner!!!!! 10PM and he had no lights on. Luckily there were people nearby who knew me & stayed to tell the cops what they saw. I miss that car!! The day it was totalled, I got SO many phone calls from people asking if they could buy the engine. Too bad it was already gone

Got my license late 2001. First car - 1989 Plymouth Acclaim. My parents drove it for a long time and I had to fix it up to run, but hey, it got me to school. Second car - 1995 Chrysler Cirrus. Graduation gift, so again, it was free! Car I drive now - 2001 Mustang. First car I bought by myself!
