I don't really want to seduce people away from SL, though I think most of us will keep coming back.

I downloaded from their FREE servers (hidden well down the page) and it took me 5 hours for 2.82GB. Plus ages more for the client to then dl and install update after update (seemed like about five). You have to open some ports through your firewall. Ports 3724, 6112 as a minimum, and 6881-6999 will help too (I didn't bother with the latter and np).

What you get works with Mac or PC. I'm on the former and its fine.

To sight-see Ironforge either start as a Dwarf and do a long walk NE, or start as a human, walk S then NW to get to your City of Stormwind, then take the amazing underground train.

I just walked, keeping to the roads, as a total noob, and I survived. Though all my armor is now totally shot, and I suppose I'll have to start killing things for coppers if I want to go on.

I got the 10-day one as the 14 day was for like members or something.

I have yet to see this Dwarf thing and I thought I went all over Stormwind, musta missed the underground train. I "think" I am Inn'ed at Stormwind so I will do it first thing when the servers are back up.

I will always be in SL, right now this is a cool change of pace and a chance to see this game everyone talked about so much. No sure if I will join or not, but certainly good for the SL downtimes and middle of the night when no one is on.

The "undertram" is near the keep in the NE, down a circular tunnel through big contra-rotating rings, Rick. Just wait 'til one comes, and stand in the lead car looking forward. Ironforge is the only destination.

I was a tailor (300) and made a nice chunk of change, especially because I got one of the first patterns for 16 slotters. I found tailoring and leatherworking to be a nice combination. Most people complained about how expensive herbalism and alchemy could get as opposed to what you could sell your goods for.

I had a lot of fun w/WoW until the people I grouped with started getting too *passionate* about it. In the end, it was a huge time sink and I preferred to build houses in Sims 2

60 Night Elf rogue damage-dealer on Dragonblight. Been doing Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and Zul'Gurub, and waiting for the day when Ain Qiraj opens in Silithus. Love squishing those bugs.

I find WoW to be far more relaxing, less violent, and more intellectually intense than Second Life. I would love to have the kinds of deep conversations I've had with Magmadar, Baron Rivendare, and Hakkar with certain people here.

My guild consists largely of adults, many with younger kids who play WoW and are in-guild, too. It's an interesting "family" with minimum hassles and good organzation.

Awws.. I probably wouldn't have stuck with it lol.. But it would've been nice to see what people are talking about lol..

If ya want to make money in WOW be an alchemist - potions make great cash. OR be a gatherer - ie: mining, herbalism and with those you can also fish. I have never been short of cash with those skills/professions.

The tiger riders are Night Elves... only they can ride the tigers unless you manage to become revered in the Night Elf town of Darnassus... no small feat.

I have a lev 60 NE warrior, 36 gnome mage on Shadowsong

and a lev 54 Troll Hunter / 32 Undead Priest on Kilrogg.

Horde are great to play... after playing alliance a long time, I liked taking up the cause of the social outcasts!

WOW is addictive so beware. If you have a honey in SL they need to join the Yahoo WOW Widows group. hee hee enjoy!!! ELUNE BE PRAISED~!! FOR THE HORDE!!! etc etc

The Horde isn't evil... not anymore. They're just ugly.

Everyone in the Alliance is pretty, by comparison. Course... that will change once the Blood Elves are added.

i suppose i should have said why continue to read it. seems silly to post something just to say something negative that doesn't bring anything to the discussion. didn't mean any offense by it, but was curious why you bothered. /shrugs.

It does tend to be boring to read others talking about a subject you know nothing about. The nearly 4.5 million players of World of Warcraft must just be nuts! Good thing you figured out in advance it would bore you based on a single thread.

I've played WoW since beta and it’s the first MMORPG that I've played for more than a few months since I played Asherons Call, which I played for about 3 years. I have currently quit WoW for a little while and will probably be back in it in a few months. My main character is on Feathermoon.

I've actually have been playing more offline games like F.E.A.R., Civ 4 and GUN. The only MMORPG I'm playing at the moment is City of Villains which I do enjoy, but I also enjoyed playing City of Heroes for about 6 months till I got bored with it.

I assure you I am anything but a moron, nor do I have to resort to a childish personal attack just because I disagree with you. Your mileage may differ.

All of my main characters are on Doomhammer. I have a 60 NE huntress, 60 human mage and a 58 troll shammy. I have various alts all in the 40+ range on Doomhammer as well. As for the other servers...well I can assure you that I have almost filled my 50 character limit scattered across the server list. *grins*
