I'll just hit a few points for tonight, I've only read part of the above but:
--It's nothing personal here. What was pissing me off was not your stated opinions, I'm perfectly capable of disagreeing with someone and still liking them as a person (just ask others on this forum). What was pissing me off was the attitude and condescension. I think that addresses most of what you said initially. It's not that I don't have a problem with Bush using religion inappropriately.
--I think that "band" analogy would be better like this:
If someone said that anyone who likes your favorite band was an idiot who only decides what they like based on what others think, would that be offensive to you? Now, take that analogy, increase the level of insult greatly, and put in place something as important as religious belief. It's not about someone not having the same belief, it's about tearing down those who have that belief.
--Since this seemed to be a repeated theme, I don't "dislike you" for anything you've said in this stupid thread. [Although I suppose this could change if you try hard enough...)
--What I said was "I think I'm just in a grumpy mood lately because of all the "Christian bashing" or whatever." You're right that I should have hit enter a few times or something before that sentence. Like I think I mentioned already, it wasn't directed at you. In fact it's not even directed specifically at this thread.
--Hasn't the "American Evil Imperialist Empire" propaganda thing gone out of style yet? Believe it or not I've already discussed that topic before.
--I don't watch Fox News... talking points..? Hmm...
You're still being condescending. And I'm about out of patience asking not to be talked down to like you're a teacher trying to enlighten the ignorant. Next time try not to respond to an attempt at a civil discussion with condescension and veiled insults. (Assuming you actually did want to have a discussion and not simply preach the truth to the ignorant, eh.)
