Voice Issue

I seem to be having problems with voice. On my main avatar, voice seems to work only when it wants to. I have searched the whole thread with a solution, but have found nothing. My voice refuses to connect through SL. I get no information about it and no little white bubbles with green waves.

I have tried the debug settings with CmdLineDisableVoice, it is already set to FALSE. I have looked in the debug console about it when I enable voice, and it reads:

INFO: LLVoiceClient::connectorCreateRespose: Connector. Create succeeded, Vivox SDK version is 2.1.3010.6151.

I also attempted to disable and re-enable the voice within the preferences menu, and again, no success.

My voice seems to work just fine on an alt avatar, but not on this one. The little "Talk" box remains grayed out and unusable. I'm am including my SL specs, and a picture including the debug settings and console, with the voice in preferences open and the grayed out talk button.

I have the exact same issue. I mean exactly.. grayed out voice chat and all.. all my debug etc are the same. All my issues seemed to either start when second life crashed or i used msn messenger to chat at the same time as sl.. hasn't worked since i did that. Very odd. Was there some type of update and I need to forward some ports or something?

ps-> I checked around the forum a bit and haven't found much info on it. It seems there are only two recent posts about this issue. Is it really just a couple people or are others having this issue too? and did anyone have any solutions that helped?

I think it might be a SL issue. Alot of my friends are/were having issues with their voice and I was also the otherday on my main.

Thank you Harmony. I had the problem off and on recently, but it usually worked out with a few relogs or a rebooting. Now it is totally DOA. Oh, well.. I hope this is addressed..I feel lost without my voice...

Considering I haven't got a mass surge of 'i got this problem too' its gotta be something fixable on the players side you'd think. Less everyone is just untalkative.

I'm having the same issue too. However, sometimes it's intermittent. I was on this morning and I had voice but after TPing to another sim I got disconnected, voice icon turned red, and it wouldn't reconnect when I TPed to another sim. I disabled and re enabled voice and it wouldn't reconnect.

I have that same problem sometimes as well. Though, I have seen that one floating around the forums more than the inability to connect in which we are all having.

Mine went from the intermittent not working sometimes and sometimes working...then it went to full blown not working at all. It's really annoying because I do alot of things that voice chat made alot easier. Now I have to struggle through typing it out etc...

I thought I had things figured out when I tried to get into SL on my laptop. Sure enough I logged in and had no issues with voice. That was a few days ago. So I figured that it must have been something with my main computer. While it was down I decided to log back into SL on my laptop. Sure enough I had no voice. I tried disabling it and re enabling it and it would not connect. On my computer I use XP and my laptop has Vista which shouldn't matter that much.

I did a reinstall to see if that would fix it.. and read something somewhere about maybe needing to forward a port so i tried that. Anyone know any suggested ports if that is the issue? Anyway both of the fixes I tried did nothing at all to change the issue.

I was about to write the same sad thread. No where I go can my voice work properly. I have to beg people to google voice with me. Would a super duper sound card solve the issue? I have a HP with Vista.

I believe I might have fixed my problem. I'm going to check a few more things just to make sure it works and I will post up what I discovered.

Well I tried messing with my firewall previously and then I restarted SL and I got voice back. Unfortunately, I believe it was just a fluke because I once again have no voice. So still no updates on the fix, still trying my best. If anyone finds anything, please post it down.

EDIT: I just attempted turning off my firewall to see if that was the problem, but nothing changed, so obviously I can conclude that the problem is not the firewall. Everyone else might wanna double check and see if that's your problem. If so, you might have to add some IPs and ports to your trusted section to access your computer.

yea I also tried my firewall settings.. even turned it off completely making sure i had open access for voice chat to get through and tested the ports to assure they were open. It's definitely not a problem there with me either. I am at a loss right now on what to try but if i get any ideas i'll post.

Edit: I also ran this test here. http://www.testyourvoip.com/index.html and it came back as great for all except chelmsford which i can't seem to connect to at all. Is that a problem? I don't know the site is very vague.

I was on tonight and I had voice for a couple hours. I disabled it and re enabled it and it came back. Though when I thought my audio was getting a little choppy I logged out and logged back in and couldn't connect to voice again. So much for getting an email from SL that the problem was resolved.

OK I got news from the SL Support and it's a known issue with Viewer 1.22 that voice chat is breaking for alot of people. Check here for regular updates to their troubleshooting.

I've tried to roll back to the previous version of the viewer. Even with 1.21 I'm not able use voice.

The Lindens gave a two minute warning on my mainland sim for a restart. I teleported to my island and there was no voice there but there was voice on my open sim. It's a crap shoot.

Voice only works ONCE-A-DAY. Crash, come back, voice doesn't work=me ticked. Voice is like alot of what I do, so I kinda enjoy it-yeah? I've tried re-installing SL, re-installing audio drivers, re-logging, disabling and re-enabling, and sometimes I'd even sit there for 30 minutes logging in and out. Sometimes it doesn't even work when I log in, so it will never work the entire day. WHY does this happen.

Side not, but off-topic. If anyone has an answer to why my avi's face is fattened/bloated when I log in and my shape hasn't changed, but rather it's SL doing it. I can't change back by shape reforms because of course, nothing has been changed in the shape. Yet it appears fine to OTHERS (NOT me) when I edit appearance and come back out. I've had enough of both of these problems, it's stupid.

Answers PHENOMINALLY, ULTIMATELY, INFINITELY appreciated.

But even better then an answer-is a definite solution. :P

Ty all.

So I believe I found a temporary solution. It works maybe about 8 times out of 10. When you lose your voice, go into the preferences menu and unclick the "Enable Voice" box. Now wait about five minutes or so (go build something, play some Zyngo, etc lol). After about five minutes or so go back in and click the box again and then save your preferences. Voice should reconnect after being disconnected for so long and you should get voice back. But be careful, you can lose it just as easily as it comes back.

Just remember, this is not a permanent solution!
