Objects Cluttering Linden Protected Land

I own a slice of Ambat that is surrounded by Linden Protected Land. There are several "lost" objects scattered around on the Protected Land which I am unable to return to thier owners, since they are technically not on my property. I have tired to contact the owners of these objects to ask them politely if they would come and gather thier things, to no avail. I was also given a suggestion that I might try to "push" these objects onto my land and thereby be able to return them, which has worked for a few of them, but not all.
I sent an IM to Geovern Linden, lol, asking for these objects to be returned as well, but I suppose my question really is this:
Why not make "Protected Land" autoreturn objects to thier owners after say 15 mins? Not only would this help people who "lose" things, it would also make the world a less cluttered place? It would also get rid of the dumb rock hovering in the air just off my NW corner :D
Suggestions, comments, or perhaps a petition to encourage the Lindens to set an autoreturn of objects on Protected Land?

I own land that has linden protected land along one edge as well, and it used to have litter upon it - just like what's going on in your area. I IM'd the actual linden owner of that plot - nova, if i am not mistaken, and was informed that it should have been auto-return already. Nova came by and double checked, and there hasn't been trash there since. So, that'd be my suggestion - IM the actual linden owner and see if the autoreturn for that plot is off for a reason, or if it simply 'bugged out.'

I've found that asking the owners of the objects to come get it is useless. Utterly and completely.

I know of dozens of Linden plots (or maybe not dozens, but a few, at least) that aren't auto-return-set.

That said, IM -any- Linden, and I think they can fix that for you. Governer never logs in, I think.

Happily, a Linden must have taken pity on my plight and set the land surrounding me for auto-return.
The dumb rock is GONE!! :D

All Linden land should be set to auto return. If you post the sim and coordinates, we will set the land correctly.

the litter issue has increased with the new bugs of 1.5 or whatever version we are on now :P there is a bug that makes you loose your pieces this is part of the reason for the clutter, but also like everyone has said just mention it to a linden and or the owner and wait with your fingers crossed

also most lindon land is set to auto return but many plots up for auction are lacking this feature

Magenta 110,90 (This plot is a former part of the protected land waterway here, but just has been cut off from the main portion. Hit P, you'll see.)

I took a look at the locations listed so far. The ones that had not already been addressed, I took care of. Please keep posting your finds!

hmmmmmm...

Oddly last night I noticed that the land around my island was again set back to 0 minutes for autoreturn. I checked and I know Jill was kind enough to check to see that it had been set for 5 mins, so I have no idea what might have happened to reset it back to 0. However, if I could please get the protected land around Ambat 50-ish, 42-ish reset, especially to my SSW, seperating Ambat from Quat, I would greatly appreciate it. I have protected land around 3 sides of my land so its not a single parcel of protected land but 3 of them I think. Thanks again

I'm a polluter

I am willing to admit pieces get away from me often especially during the building process. Usually I duplicate a piece and drag it close to where it needs to be and then put in the exact coordinates in the edit window. Sometimes, the duplicated piece just takes flight in one of the axis and flies off usually ending up embedded in land that's not mine.

I have had pieces go underground and become unselectable. I have had vehicles get detached from me and fly into land lots that have access lists and ban others.

And just last night, I found one of my light rods from my changelier (light rod objects attached to a platform with joints and physics turned on) in Linden land in Vaoetere that's set to auto-return in 15 minutes. It was in deep water and half burried in land -- the object had physics turned on so it did not behave like other ordinary primitives.

Before I go forward, since then I have found out that my chandelier destabilizes the region it resides in and have removed all instances of it.

Is there a setting that can be configured by Lindens or by users that prevents physics objects from getting past the physical boundaries of terrain?

Secondly, I am on a Powermac, is there a way we can add a little more control on the drag to move feature so that objects don't suddenly start moving too fast and fall off of the sim before I know it.

Also, on a powermac, the biggest culprit for me during building are the edit window placement fields. Many times I tab between these fields only to find that if I work too fast the number in the field is not replaced but rather prepended to which of course creates a HUGE number and results in the object flying off in some crazy direction. Also click to edit seem to have problems as well. Could the behavior of XYZ placement fields be improved?

On the positive side, the mini map always shows objects created by me. So I keep an eye open for blips on that map and remove anything that's not in my lots.

One last request, an offline editor that can be used to create objects. The offline editor would fake a sandbox area like Cordova -- only with one user. The created objects would go into the local inventory and then when the user connects to the grid, his/her inventory synchronizes uploading the new designs to the system. THIS alone would solve half of the side effects of heavy construction in SL: too many people building things and causing lag.

Hope this helps,

Cortina (36,47) ....

was cleaned out, but still has auto return set to 0. And it already has more objects on it. I hope they get all the land set correctly soon.

Thanks for the reports, keep them coming! Items listed to date were taken care of.

Anyone have a public works suit? :D

Just kidding!

I'm glad to do my part to help keep the world clean.

all of the linden plots along the south side of perry, and many of the approx 95-100 plots that make up the grid of the lusk estates roads in south west lusk.

Which brings up another question... is there a specific reason some of these plots cannot be joined (to simplify maintenance on them ) overall there are about 150 total 'plots' in lusk that belong to lindens, alot of them a grid of neighboring 16sqm chunks, etc. Joining them would go a long way to making their maintenance simpler, having to jus set auto return on one or two plots rather than that huge number of tiny ones.

Clutter Spots

Thanks in advance!! ;)

Batak 148/182, just a dumb wooden ball.

Btw, this stretch of Linden Water seems prone to collect boats/planes and odd items squatting here for days or weeks at a time.

Would a "return" command/button be possible for the editing UI, so that if one's prim goes flying off into the ether or out of sim/reach, with one click it can be retrieved?

I dunno if this is a huge deal or not, but I know I'd be happy to snag back stuff that "gets away" from me during building!

The waterway winding around the front of the cathederal at the northernmost end of Mocha is littered with various vehicles and such. I got rid of the ones that were physical, but a few still remain. One is the freebie motorcycle set for sale for L$500 =(

Maybe if we could sticky this? I hate having to go look for it every time I find new land, and every time it gets bumped, several more people post.

Oh, and that land in Magena I mentioned earlier? It's still split from the main river, and while it's set to return objects now, it's also set to no-script, something that shouldn't be done in a non-Linden sim.

Thanks for the updates. These are handled.

If you are posting the location of Linden Land that isnt set to return, please include coordinates.

Thanks!

plots in Bisque that need autoreturn
10-21-2004 23:08
Please set autoreturn for the following plots in Bisque:

214, 243
253, 235
198, 238
226, 196
253, 205

What do you use for the autoreturn time for Linden-owned public land?

Done. The time depends on the plot. I'm setting them anywhere from 5-60 minutes.
