Just a question... I can't offer any suggestions, but you guys do have crash logging enabled, right? And you have the crash log send itself to LL each time? I know this isn't much of a consolation, but the more crash logs LL receives, the better they can narrow down the problem. For what it's worth, I've started crashing to desktop too, after never having done so before. Nothing has changed on my system.
Do you try to instantly teleport somewhere else right when or soon after you log in? Have you tried just standing around and sorting inventory for 3 or 4 minutes to give the system time to "think?" Just curious...

Hey guys, I've been fooling around in JIRA, looking for this issue... see if this one sounds like what's happening to you. There have been suggestions to unistall the official Linden Lab client altogether and to install a third party client, like the Nicholaz viewer or the Onrez viewer. From what I can gather, it's possibly the installation process itself which has gone bad. Here's the JIRA issue: read it carefully! http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2946Here is a link to Nicholaz' website, where you can download his version of the viewer (aka Client): http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/Here is a link to Onrez's viewer: http://viewer.onrez.com/

If your formating the HD actually fixed your problem then I was wrong in my earlier statement. I'm glad it has apparently fixed your problem but I wish I knew what was causing it. Something was obiviously corrupted or broken, however it could have been anything. If you find out what the problem was please post back.........formating is a pretty extreme method of fixing a problem. Good luck.

Crashing many times myself, and yes I run XP. Though I've noticed that all this is since the latest patch. I thought it was my firewall at first, in that I got, on two occasions, a Black horse trojan attack which was blocked by Norton, at the time of crashing. It seemed at the time Norton was thinking that windlight used a port that Norton didnt like. I disabled Norton, and for 6 hours everything was ok, then I crashed again. Coincidence? Ohh and the invisible stuff that is now visible? I read it's intentional to combat lag..Damn!!! My probes around my land are now visible, as are my private bits in pg areas. ============================================================ May you get to heaven ½ hour before the devil know's you're dead! ============================================================
