LOTS of cool features.. make sure to check them all out.. i was a HUGE fan of the Nich viewers.. i think i have a new favorite.. not to mention, they are excellent customer support, i had an issue with it, and not only did LGG find me a fix, he posted it front page on the site for other people.. if only LL put that much effort into it.

to find this sort of thing, one can do something along the line of

search google for

second life emerald viewer

That produces a link to the Second Life Wiki page on alternate viewers, which is at

Ok... there is a serious sad underlining thing here.

Such high levels of ignorance are leading to unjust, and unfair actions, as you can see by this post.

Emerald as you know was made with a high amount of attention paid to force people to be as strictly in line with the tos, as the offical linden viewer.

(and mind you , even if we didn't it would still be legal untill someone used it for an illigal activity, please read the tos, specially concerning copybot, thats where they lay it down)

I advise anyone afraid of people looking up their skirts to get emerald and turn on the look at function, so you can see who is looking where.

Also... we have some combat sim owners who have gone as far as banning emerald viewer, simply because we have a low lag radar. radars are illigal in most combat and rp sims, fine, but ours doesnt show anything more than the minimap, and they haven't banned that yet. Not to mention that they seem to just ignore all the lsl radar huds..

My point is this, if you think the Emerald viewer is ruining your second life, please talk to me personally and we will work it out.

If you use emerald and are being discriminated against, you may completely avoid detection by going to edit->prefs->emerald->shields and protection and then turn off the clothing layer protection. Also, if you use the radar chat method to save sim lag, you may want to turn that off in a combat sim as well.

And btw... Did she happen to check out the Emerald *look at* button? unlike the LL viewer, it has a NAME on it... so if someone IS looking at you, you know who it is.
(In case your so savvy you don't know what that is... its the little cross hairs that shows, by color, where your mouse pointer is pointed. Torley made a whole video on it!)~brie
Oh... that's neat!

This is the irony of this thread. With Emerald at least you can tell who is looking up your skirt, with the standard they can look up your skirt anyway but there is no name attached to the pointer.

Also, I paid good money for a hot skin, you can look up my skirt all you want. ;) ;) If I find someone staring I may IM them and ask if they want a better look. :)

I using the windows version on XP. Works better than the standard or RC for me. Things seem to load much faster and less rubber banding.

Radeon X1950pro (latest drivers VBO off)
AMD dual core 2.2gig
2gigs ram.
Runs great on high settings.

I had that problem as well, check this out...

http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=10

LordGregGreg found the issue, and posted a fix, need to update a windows component.

Read about halfway down the page, you are looking for the part that says this...

If you are getting the following error:

create process failed; code 14001
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is oncorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Download and install this package from Microsoft.

You should then be able to successfully run GreenLife Emerald.

The link points to....

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displayLang=en

Then reboot, and it works GREAT :)

Did i mention LGG and the support for this viewer ROCKS?

Zwagoth Klaar was kind enough to help me out and it seems that the reason I can't run Emerald is that I built my computer out of tin cans (well he put it more nicely than that). He even tried to compile a beta but unfortunately it didn't work.

I had better luck. The last build I tried was about a month ago, the latest build on his site started and lasted for me. I'm not seeing the FPS I got in Cool View, but, it's still a very well featured client. (^_^)

Though... I continue to miss the pre-voice buttons. (>_<;)

Thanks, Brie. I tried that straight off to no avail.

It looks like I might gonna have to upgrade the puter if I want to look up skirts from afar. ;)

But in all seriousness, it sounds like an awesome viewer and I agree the support is awesome.

My girlfriend showed me how she could look up another girls dress to see her private areas.

This girl was across the sim she was on, in a closed room. She never knew my girlfriend was there looking up her dress.

JohnP, that wasn't a girl. It was a cartoon representation of a girl that someone voluntarily made available on a more-or-less public internet service. Nobody was looking up anyone's dress, and that was a drawing, not actual "private parts".
