And the gamers are all over the ATI 4850 for the games they play..........which my money says are DirectX based games. Which is back to my original argument..........the graphics manufacturers go where the money is. Little ole SL ain't quite there with it's OpenGL. It's getting late here in Southern California...got to wrap this up for the night. Hope I've not been too offensive toward you (or anyone else). I'm not really mean.....but that "Brat" under my name is appropriate. Night night.

From: Peggy Paperdoll Haha...........I still ain't switching to Linux. Not for SL anyway...........my experience with Linux was not all that bad, just to freaking complicated for someone who simply wants to be able to do things on my computer that appear to be fun or useful without having to know about kernal processes, or unpacking, mounting, compiling just to get a program on the computer in the first place. If you like that then, by all means, go for it.......but don't expect the vast majority of folks to agree with you. There is a reason people use Windows........beside name recognition. It's really not harder than windows, just different. You have to know the same concepts in Windows to get things done and maintain a secure system anyway. The concepts are fairly universal even if the implementation is different. Think back to when you were a new Windows user: It was probably even harder for you then having no background. At least you understand the concepts now, it's just a matter of adaptation. I'm not trying to convince you to switch to Linux, just not shut it out as an option entirely. This is an open forum, and part of asking smart questions is searching the archives for answers. Perhaps the suggestion works for someone who isn't stuck with a particular platform, or who might be willing to run windows in a virtualbox or wine for what can't be reproduced to satisfaction in Linux.
