Well Lewis I DO agree with that statement... It IS the one's spamming the list with multiple posts of the same so called "event". That is what truly needs to be addressed. On that we are in agreement.

It does work, you're just pissed because they won't give you free advertising for your ONGOING COMMERCIAL BUSINESS. Why can't you wrap your little brain around the fact that "YARD SALE" as defined by anyone with half a brain is a NON-COMMERCIAL event which is NOT a daily, 24/7 business operation.
I place plenty of ads in the commercial area and for my 'bogus' yard sale -- if you go back to my original post my original comment was that yard sales are still being advertised on the event calendar every single day while I was seemingly singled out to be told I could not post mine in events. And by golly I havent seen one host at any of the ones I visited on events.

Kitty>^.^<
Yes, they are, and they are probably _REAL_ yard sales, not some 2nd-hand dealer dumping junk outside her front door. And if their hosts are not in attendance, feel free to RA them for abuse of the EVENTS posting rules. In your case, that's just sour grapes.... A yard sale on the same land as someone's HOUSE is not the same as your BOGUS "yard sale" in front of one of your many commercial outlets.

From: Vivianne Draper Excuse me but at least one person in this thread does not have yard sales -- they are 24 hour a day 5 day a week sales that are always going on and that have the same stuff for sale that can be found in that person's adjoining shop. THAT'S MY POINT, DEAR -- it's _NOT_ a freakin' yard sale, it's just a damned trick to get you to their shop to buy the better, higher-priced stuff _INSIDE_ the shop. It's an extension of BUSINESS AS USUAL for the 2nd-hand dealer, and a sleazy way to get free advertising. I haven't shopped at one of Miss K's outlets since I figured out her slick little scam. I kept trying to find _REAL_ yard sales and all I kept finding in the EVENTS listings was her shops with junk outside and no real "yard sale"-priced good deals at all. When I _did_ find something in one of her shops, I was so pissed off that I tracked down the original creator and bought it from _HER_, rather than pay the slickster anything at all. I haven't shopped at any of her outlets since then. I won't -- if a friend drags me there and I see anything I like, I'll track down the creator again, or hope to find the item I want in a _REAL_ yard sale. I'm not going to reward a low-rent business practice.

From: Vivianne Draper I want to make it clear that I think a yard sale, that happens as a three hour event, that a host is present for the entire time, that sells second-hand items at a discount, is a legitimate event. I would treasure going to such an event and to me, this is what yard sales are about. I love them in real life, I love them in Second Life. To be even clearer -- even if it happens every weekend, if its three hours, sells second hand stuff, isn't attached to a store, and has a host -- its an event. This isn't what most yard sales are though and THAT is the reason there's been action taken. Lana you know as well as I do that you are in the minority. You know that most yard sales are businesses. You know that most yard sales are not hosted. You know that most yard sales are, if they are not businesses, 72 hour events that are posted 6 times a day, for two to three days. I'm sorry these people have ruined it for you -- honestly I am. I would love to see more yard sales that are as you do them. Maybe though.. what needs to happen here is that there needs to be a more concerted effort to get other people, some of whom appear in this thread, to clean up their act. I'm just sayin.... ONE MORE TIME -- there is a difference between someone cleaning out their own inventory, and a commercial secondhand goods dealer dumping junk outside the door of her own shop. I'm tired of trying to find REAL yard sales because the commercial dealers keep posting their BS "yard sales" as events.

From: Jonas Pierterson Slingo qualifies as an event for a good reason: it is one, whether you feel it is or not. It meets the requirements listed.
When I host the slingo..its one feel. When another does, its another feel. Some people are businesslike..other sjoke. I'm more like a circus ringmaster (actually lookign for an outfit)..
That makes the 'normal' event 'special.'
Same as the events I host at a friends club. Speaking of.. Fairy ngiht at Club Inferno, thursday 5-7pm sl time
Prize to best dressed in male and female fairy (host excluded from competition) It's a _COMMERCIAL_ activity.
