Both ping and tracert tell me they can not find the host. Ping again and check the TTL values. Those might be too low if you go over more than 32 hops, like TTL 32 or TTL 64. If those DefaultTTL values are too low, then routes to websites with more than 32+ hops will cause packet loss and error messages (which suddenly can happen after it worked for ages with TTL 32). DefaultTTL determines the time in seconds and the number of hops a packet lives. While it does not directly affect speed, a larger value increases the amount of time it takes for a packet to be considered lost, discarded and retransmitted. A value that's too small can cause packets to be unable to reach distant servers at all. If that's the case, you might want to change the "DefaultTTL" parameters in the Registry. Open your registry editor and do a search for DefaultTTL. Right click the DefaultTTL entry in the right window and "Modify" and change the decimal values to 128. Make a backup of your registry first (Export Registry File, top menu under "Registry" ![]() Good luck! |

Am I losing my mind, or does http://www.secondlifeherald.com/ nolonger exist? I get a 'server not found' message for at least the last couple days (if not longer). What happened? -Ghoti Hey Ghoti I got an error when I clicked the link, but then when force reloaded with firefox it came through. They might have had a DNS change and our caches might be pointing to the wrong server. Anyways after the reloading the site works just fine. _____________________
