From: Alex Fitzsimmons It seems to hinge on this: " c) The notification required by this section may be delayed if a law enforcement agency determines that the notification will impede a criminal investigation. The notification required by this section shall be made after the law enforcement agency determines that it will not compromise the investigation." ... and whether LL had in fact gotten the go-ahead from a law enforcement agency to delay. Good question, though. Very good question. So let me get this straight, if some incompetant cock-sucking federal law enforcer in the USA decides this, I as a British citizen could be fucked over by that arseholes decision? No, not acceptable, under no circumstances should LL have kept this information for 2 days before telling us, no matter what some pencil pushing cretin in the FBI (or whoever) says.

From: Macphisto Angelus Then I would have to look at the whole thing and all info they have given us as "What they want me to believe". That opens up a whole new can of worms BUT I am willing to believe the letter to be the truth. I do to but i thourght it might be one for the conspiracy theorists to start working on However if the law enforcement agencies are involved they may well have gagged LL for part of their investigations, im sure though that we will be given a statement at sometime in the near future as LLs undrestands, im sure, the worry amongst some of its customers and as we are all adults here or should be i would imagine LLs was hoping we would have taken the correct course of action to safe guard ourselves against this sort of thing, (i.e; Different passwords etc. & remebering our security questions ) Personally i have been given enough information for now to take whatever actions i feel fit to take to safeguard my self, which are at the moment, no more that i usually take in my everyday life. Although i can understand that others feel terribly compromised and i hope that they are able to take the measures to make themselves feel safer. LL has in my humble opinion done the right things for now given the situation they are in, i will be happy to wait for a full answer as i would rather know that the staff are working around the clock to fix this rather than coming in here onto the forums and answering the demands from others here. Although i have noticed several Lindens posting often to threads to let people know whats happening, its Monday tomorrow guys and im sure u will all get it fixed and we will start to get some answers from LLs Have we all got no patience? and for those that have no access to SL this weekend, i do feel for you but RL can be fun as well so go find someone and give them a Hug and a big smile, before posting the next we hate LLs thread.

From: Lord Sullivan Have we all got no patience? I hope this isn't true, because if your payment information is deencrypted and some thief uses your CC, you will need much patience to sort out your bill and your credit report.

Especially when it involves passwords, security questions and credit cards? I know American law enforcement is not the best in the world (not that ours is exactly the epitome of a good one either) but that just makes American law enforcement look like a joke when they are more interested in paper work than immediate protection.

I dont find it acceptable atall, but what i do accept is, that, when i signed up to Second Life i knew i would be governed by US laws and rules, now wether i agree with them or not, does not matter one jot, if i want to play SL then i have to accept them and if not i dont play. Exactly the same as when i visit another country i abide by their rules and laws whilst i am there or i do not visit. As far as Law enforcement is concerned both here and the US, they are paperwork first, crime fighting second but thats been caused by the governments the people elected. As i have said elsewhere i am sure will get more answers when LLs is able to give it to us, until then i prefer not to panic, its such a destructive thing to harbour
