Folks like that aren't limited to virtual worlds like There, Sims, and SL. One of the things that made me crazy in Matrix Online was the number of people hitting on me. Offering to duel usually put a quick stop to that conversation.

I just recently made a account for There.com and logged in. Hehe, I did too during this morning's SL downtime. One guy tried to hit on me I think. He sidled up and said, "Salut." And I responded, "What did you just call me?" (I don't think he got it.) Then he kept asking, "What's your name?" and I kept emoting "*points over her head*" because it was right there. He eventually wandered off and started chatting up another newbie girl. Another guy also approached me right away, but he was nothing but pleasant and helpful. _____________________

I've found that carrying a fully charged cattle prod can have the same effect in a shorter time frame Actually, depending on where you are, I find the cattle prod to have the opposite effect. _____________________

Chip: I find it amazing the number of people (men especially) who have no concept at all of the possibilities of the "male/female" button in the Appearance Editor window.
No wonder so many real life crimes are planned and followed through on via cyberspace (i.e. pedophiles seeking underaged girls/boys). People assume that everyone is the gender they appear. Funny thing that. I don't to recall meeting anyone in SL that believes for a second that someone who is a Furry in SL is also part animal IRL. RL men seem to think that all the women in SL are here for sex also. Though I'm not seeing the "one liners" and such being all that much worse in SL than they are IRL. |

I don't seem as attractive anymore. XD Also either the place is filled with teens that can't spell very good or it's got one lousy chat interface... You can't tell whoes saying what and the chat history window doesn't show everything. _____________________

Some people define an identity and that's that and wouldn't dream of going against gender. I think they figure everyone else is that way too. I tend to look at my avatar as just another bit of canvas and it represents whatever I feel like creating, which is rarely a self portrait, or even something I'd like to imagine myself as. _____________________

What I don't get about people is that there is a first life page.. if people wanted you to know their ASL, they'd put it there .. or tell you as they get to know you . The people that just IM random avatars to see if they live close or something is so beyond me. They'd do a lot better going to a chatroom for their city or something , why do that in a game ( I mean platform
 )? As for the having someone in your partner box making a difference on chasing off wierdos.. it helps a little. Me and my boyfriend have been partnered almost a year and I do get less of those ASL , can you help me adjust my pose balls IM's._____________________

About 5 minutes into the conversation he asks me if I am seeing anyone, I said do you mean in SL or RL? Sorry chicky.. that response did you in. It's simple. When asked if you are seeing anyone say "I'm married in RL and not interested in the SL relationships" asking them "SL or RL?" leaves you open as if one of the 2 is an option. Just get the to the point and tell them "not interested" if you truely aren't. _____________________

IRL as ISL, those that are being lead about by their hormones are not being guided by their cerebral cortex or anything outside the core of their brain stem.
The come-on's, pick up lines and cluelessly hysterical passes I've been subject to in VR had, until recently, been outshone by "in person, RL" klunkers. Recently I said. However, just the other day, in EQII, I was gifted with the most hysterical (to me and my feeble brain at least) pick up line ever. I'm hopping along in a new avie, it's a Froglok (athro froggie, nice and 3 tone-green, short and sweete, but ... the body type & name (unless one reads mangles Spanish) do not indicate the gender of the character, when another froggie fellow (his name does indicate gender) hits me with the following: "Hiya, wanna make tadpoles together?" Cue hysterical laughter of me and my guildies in TeamSpeak. The avies are named, Reinadelarana (roughly Queen of the Frogs - that's me) and Superspurm (do I need to explain?)! He was a goofball and funny, tried to convince me of how wonderful our offspring would be, until about 20 min later, when he logged out. Clueless? No. Funny? Yes. The can't afford me line does work, though, so long as you never name a price. Just make sure you keep repeating that no amount of L or $ they can gather will earn your favors. Oh, and then stick to it. Well if they put up 20 L, maybe ... hehehe NOT! _____________________
