Dunno, I think choosing names is a rather serious business.. deciding how you would be known to the rest of the game world from here to eternity.

Not something to be taken lightly by any account.. To frivolously waste this for the chance at a cheap laugh seems somewhat immature to me..

Phark...

That's so weighty coming from you. ;)

Cybin, I registered MonaLisa Overdrive and then changed my mind and cancelled it!! Linden Lab reserved this name for me but I don't really want it. It's a cool name and I'm afraid that I inadvertently took it out of circulation. Sorry people. :p

It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, an alt must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES."

What about Creami Cannoli?

I checked earlier today, and Greasy Bacon wasn't taken yet. Neither was LoFat Bacon, or Fatty Bacon.

I thought about making Lt Dangle since I love Reno 911! but I don't think I would like having a male avatar.

Well, I chose "Kanahoe" because it asks the only important question left for science and religion to answer about the universe: "Can a ho...?" But then I lacked the moral courage to choose the obvious & appropriate first name.

Here is a list of rather comic names that I found ...
The thing that bugs me the most about the names is that the Lindens dont announce when they are thinking of putting new ones out until they, well... put them out.

Life being what it is there are always FIC or insider types that know about it way ahead of time and are waiting to scoop up the good names.

For instance I was at the website within less than a minute of the announcement that the new names being up last time, only to find "William Shatner" "Bill Shatner" and most mispellings of it already gone as well as most of the other cool names. Then when you go back to the forum you see all these posts from old-timers about how they "knew about" the name release "weeks ago" and were waiting for it.

To add insult to injury all the names released that day were Canadian (I'm in Canada) and I had just spent the previous week creating my only two alts. If I had known that a huge batch of Canadian names were going to be released the following week I obviously would not have chosen to make the alts just then.

I coulda been Margaret Trudeau! :)

And that's another thing, why do some names just vanish like Trudeau after a couple of months when others have been around for two years or more? Was "Trudeau" so terribly unpopular that the list space had to be saved to delete it? There are lots of Trudeaus in SL but no Margarets, if I want to be Margaret Trudeau what's the big problem? Why not make it available?

They only allow 150 people to have each last name then they close it forever so maybe there were 150 Trudeaus and they closed it to new people with that last name.

Huh.
Well that settles that mystery.
Thanks Maeve :)

FWIW, I toyed with taking Vladimir Poutine. I'm still a bit torn with whether I made the right decision. :P
