Furries are fine, but the Av's I've met who are wearing scales are really great.

They're fine so long as they don't shed on me.

Or poop on the rug.

Tasty! Especially with A1. *grin*

Nah, just kidding. I have no problems with furries. I guess you could call me one by your definition. Although I don't really have any fur, so maybe I'm more what you'd call a scaly-feathery. *winks*

I guess on SL "furry" is the term for any sort of animal/anthro avatar? In other parts of the interwebs (and offline for that matter), furry is more of a fandom/lifestyle as well. So that's why I never considered myself a furry - I'm not into the lifestyle, and definitely not into the whole "yiff" thing. I consider myself more of a therian/otherkin.

I have three furry AVs and one human form (on my main account). While I tend to wear the human the most often, a funny thing happens when I put on one of the furry AVs. It puts me in a completely different mood. I'm more attentive, friendlier, I laugh more and act sillier. I think it may be in part that I'm responding to the way people respond to me. But part of it is also just that its a sillier more casual side of me. All of my furry AVs are on the cutesy side, not as amazing as some I've seen and all store bought. I don't have the skill to make anything really great. But I love them and they're fun. Furries tend to be fun people, at least the one's I've been around. :)

I have found the Luskwood furry headquarters to be a very nice place. It's one of my favorite spots in SL. I like the big trees; they are great for flying around in. The platforms and the suspended walkways are great for jumping around on. The crowd at the main platform is friendly and the chat is pleasant. The avatar outfits are cheerful and well made.

Recently I clicked on the map at random, owning to the extremely common absence of terrain textures displaying in a reasonable amount of time, and ended up in Furnation. It was a normal SL sort of place, lower in prim structures than most. I came upon a sign with a notecard of rules. I haven't seen many such local rules posted. It's the "FurNation's Local rules and policies" by Selkit Diller. It seemed like a well thought out set of rules, written to clarify both policies specific to the locale and with some good common sense rules about how get along without conflict in SL. I wasn't in a chatty stop and talk mood, so I didn't get get to make any judgement one way or the other on how friendly people seemed or what the chat was like, but no one gave me a hard time about flying around the place at breakneck speed in my normal human garb.

I did see one frightening thing there in Furnation: Huns Valen!

He was scary because his slumped over, inert, lifeless Away posture reminded me of furry and human mortality.

If we're talking in terms of SL, I think it depends on the person. To some, it's a fad, or an extra layer of fashion. Others take to it for reasons of their own accord - be it of spiritual bond, or attraction. It's a quirky subject and difficult to analyze without quickly pointing fingers over certain aspects present in some of the 'mature' sims.

I am quick to point out, however, when one tries to use these accusations against me, for being one of these said beasts, that the internet has been around for a while and has seen far worse things in comparison. This is so commonplace that I'm sure many a reader that passes a glance at this post might have a burning image sear their mind for a mere moment, haunting them from a distant, wishfully locked away memory.

Furry is an itch some scratch. But furry is also different, and therefore a center of contention. You either like them, or you don't.

Long story short, don't judge a book by it's cover, blahblah. You know the story.

Furries don't poop on the rug, that's furry haters. (as seen on another thread)

Furries are definately more then O.K. in my book, but as a fox myself, that goes without saying ^.^
I'm aslo a furry outside of sl, one could almost describe me as a lifestyler... tho I normally wear shoes outside of the house ^.^

BTW, furries have to have sex too... Where do you think babyfurs come from? They don't grow on trees ya know.

And feathery scaley raptors are concidered furries too, by most of us: Furry is a word 'invented' to prevent having to say "Anthropomorphic animal': saves time and sounds cuter ^.^ generally, any being that is part animal, part human can fall under the term furry, one doesn't have to have fur per se.

Giving a definition of a furry or what a furry is or what the furry fandom is about, is impossible: But all different vieuws center around the same: it's about animals and the love for them.

Aren't humans furries too? All of us mammals have got hair on at least some parts of our skin. Just that some of us chose to look more feline or draconian than primate.

"All of us mammals have got hair on at least some parts of our skin."

If I recall correctly, humans have hair on almost every part of their skin. It's mostly those tiny little short hairs.

I looked it up. They're called "Vellus" hairs.

How many of these topics do we really need to state our opinions? I don't care if its of the good or bad nature. This has been asked like hundreds of times already. i suggest using the search tool.. c.c

I think you just mean Taco.

Tacowood, by it's description in Find is a Gorean sim.

Taco, on the toher hand, is a furry sim that looks like it was taken right from a cartoon. It really is a great sim to see. Plus it has one of the most diverse furry AV selections I've ever seen in one spot. Look for the blue Avatorium building (They were moved from Dwellget so they'd have more room since AV vendors are social spots it seems. :) ) The whole sime, however, is amidsts remodelling, so it's not qutie finished yet, but what is done is done very well. I'm always stunned by the quality of their texture work.

Taco is definately one of my favorite sims. And I'm not just saying that because I have a thing for the cute owner ;)

Furries? With the right sauce, they taste just like chicken (kidding).

Furries are cool. While being a furry is not for me, as an overall group I've found them to be very friendly and helpful.

I usually stick with the human sections of SL, but knowing there is a furryland out there where the deer and the antelope play, just adds to the feel of SL, knowing there is still some exotic lands yet to be discovered by me.

Heh.. I usually stick to the furry areas and think about the exotic human lands out there.. I should explore Midnight City some day.. Or squeeze into a Humansuit and tour the gorean sims, I hear they're pretty well done.
