I've tuned in a bit later - only Philip and Edward are there. Where's Chip?

*waves at Trinity* - keep them honest! :)

Thanks! :) That was a fun experience, and it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be.

Nice call-in Trin! :D hehe. I thought the call from the bitter WoW player was incredibly amusing too.

At the end of the hour they told me that their six phone lines had stayed busy through the entire hour and they were pretty excited that the topic generated so much interest. The archive should be up within a couple of hours, and it'll also be available as a podcast.

Yeah, he's a natural. As the saying goes, I think he could sell icecubes to eskimoes.

I also liked how you and Phillip use "absolutely" in place of "yes" every time there was a yes or no questions :)

haha, I didn't notice that. I missed part of the show. I could listen in the green room (or employee break room as the case may be, hehe) but when it was close to my time to go on they had me wait in the hall outside the studio. Couldn't hear anything there. I was only in the studio from a a couple of minutes before he introduced me to about two seconds after he thanked me for coming. I haven't listened to the archive. There are few things in life I hate quite as much as hearing my own voice. :D

Hey Chip, I'm listening to the recording now. Sorry I missed it live. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the program, just at the end of your segment. You were awesome! Thanks for being such a great representative for all of us content creators.

Great program. Wonderful presentation of SL.

It was a pretty good interview, but now watch out for the influx of NPR listeners. Chip (or Phillip) - can I ask what Kojo was like in person? He's one of my favorite hosts.

When I click on WMV to play, all I hear is a woman saying "online streaming for the program you are about to hear is brought to you by WMAU members....blah blah) but I can't hear the actual thing.

Well done, Chip! I enjoyed listening to this. I bet it will help SL break that magic 100,000 subscriber mark. (In fact, one interesting question is whether SL will actually overtake Star Wars Galaxies, which is now in freefall.)

Incidentally, Kojo did a similar show with Sid Meier a few weeks back, on the day that Firaxis released "Civilization IV," the latest (and IMHO greatest) iteration of the Civ franchise. I'm betting Kojo is a gamer. :)

I just ran into a guy at the lookout in Rodeo who was here (brand new) because he heard the radio broadcast. That tweaked his interest enough to come to Second Life today.

He was used to MMORPGs and said this was really different for him. He was interested in learning how to build and how to make money. I gave him a landmark to the Ivory Tower of Primitives in Noyo for building help.

Not sure, but you can always download the podcast mp3 :) It's just under 24mb: http://cdn.npr-podcasts.speedera.net/anon.npr-podcasts/podcast/305/510025/WAMU_5063171.mp3

I wish I could tell you, Kanker :) I've been a long time fan of his too. I didn't see him before his show started, and I was only ushered into the studio with enough time left in the break to shake his hand, say thanks, and then get the quick briefing from his producer (if you need to cough, hit this button here conveniently labeled "cough";). Then it was back from break and into the segment. When David Johnson went in he and I traded places and I went back to the green room. Since the show continued when the tech segment was over I didn't get to chat with him after our bit was done. The little I can tell you is that he has the same vibe in person he does on air... he just seems like a really nice mild mannered guy. I also saw Diane Rehm very briefly. She gave me a friendly hello on her way through the green room. Philip was at a different NPR station somewhere, and I'm not sure where Ted Castranova was at. Only David Johnson and myself were at WAMU.
