SLForums.com: THIS is why closing these forums is a complete mistake.

EDIT: THIS THREAD HAS BECOME A PLAYGROUND FOR TROLLING AND FLAMING. I CREATED THIS POST TO PROVIDE INFORMATION, NOT TO HAVE THOSE WHO OPPOSE ME START A FLAME WAR WITH OTHERS. IN ADDITION I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE OWNER OF THE FORUM IN QUESTION AND AM SATISFIED WITH THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED.

Also, before you ask...I didn't post a reply there and don't plan on posting any here. The energy and time it takes to respond to others childish behavior is not something I want to do. It's stressful and counter productive. I am not sure what prompts others to call people such nasty names, but I do hope such behavior does not become standard practice on these 3rd party forums.

I slightly agree with you, however I think that "ZOMG SOMEONE WROTE MY NAME!!!!! LAWSUIT" is completly lame. Seriously, MadamG, you have started plenty of drama on your own. People calling you names is a fact of life, and you're going to have to deal with it at some point.

I did not see anything in the post about a lawsuit. Maybe I should read again? And no....people calling names is ignorant and childish...as well as plain rude...not a fact of life...YOUR life maybe. Maybe we should all go on over and start some threads about you...since it's a fact of your life and all.

MadamG, I would ignore them. They obviously have nothing else better to do. If the person is posting about you there...they'll probably post elsewhere to. All you can do is take screenshots and keep a log in this kind of situation. I wouldn't respond though. Just let the person (or people) keep it up. If they do, you have every right to do what's neccessary to protect your reputation.

Yeah...someone on SL-forums.com is harassing another resident by calling them names and talking about them when they were not even a member of those forums...something like that.

Seems like a problem that might be creeping up due to the forums closing here.

I am a mod there. I just want to clarify two quick things (this is not to agree or disagree with MadamG. I have not ever had an issue with her myself for the record.)
1. The board IS moderated. There are two sections that are not. The reason for that was so people could say whatever they wished without fear of someone deleting it.
2. When the mod MadamG speaks of wrote what was written, that person was not a moderator. That person became one later. Yes, this will likely stir up another can of worms from someone else, but I felt that needed to be cleared up.

I wont speak out on my feelings about it all because I was not involved. This is between MadamG, The Mod and the board owners if they so choose it to be.

*steps back out of the way and mumbles the obligatory "this will not end well".

so in other words a pseudo bully.. hmm, my fav thing to do to bullies is to make em cry.. they are so cute that way..


but seriously... the ppl THAT ALLOW that behavior are at fault as well.. so if you post on that board and let it go by your an ass in my book...

Sometimes people stay out of stuff to save themselves the drama. MadamG is very capable of standing up for herself as you can see in this thread.
If you spent your days "not letting things go by" here on this forum you would likely go nuts. Would this make you an ass in your book? Be fair.. not everyone wears an "S" on thier chest and jumps in to the fray.

Why SHOULD it be between MadamG and anyone? It doesn't look as if she volunteered to be an active participant. Why should I, you, or anyone else be unwillingly dragged into a name calling battle just because another person feels like it? I was planning on joining those forums myself...and when I saw this thread I wanted to register just so I could see what was said...but I don't think I want to be a part of something like that.

Aslo, I can plainly see that you have at least 2 forums that say that they ARE NOT moderated. So the statement you made about them being moderated is either false or you have misleading information on your forums.

I find this all too disappointing. I hope that things get resolved.

It does not matter if someone is capable of defending themselves or not... Once something becomes a social norm you are fucked... Meaning once you allow a certain behavior to pass you are giving liscense to it... sorry but i do believe this..

but honestly please oh please, add your two cents you don't have to directly go against that person, but you can subtly let it be known you disagree with t heir behavior...

Why should it be between anyone? I dont know. I dont like the drama end of stuff either. It does seem to be something that is gonna go to any board anytime. Some boards are focused on it more then anything.. some have moderate amounts.

As for the second statement.. I said we have two areas of the forum that are not moderated. This is true.. I just recounted lol. The REST of the board is moderated by different people. I zone certain areas and have mod powers in them. The others are handled by others. Please re-read again and you will see that I was not being false in my statement.

I also hope things get resolved.

Just because Linden Lab decides to enforce a code of conduct doesn't make it universal for anyone that has anything to do with SecondLife.

Unless you have a case for slander or libel, and can show damages that would stand up in a real court, who is going to care?

The best offense is a strong defense, live beyond reproach and when asshats speak out against you, the people that count will know better.

(and it has the nice side effect of not giving folks that would speak against you ammo).

I've no ill will towards you MadameG, but doubt you'll find any ISP's that will care what the sites they host say about you, which makes your post something of a hollow threat.

And hollow threats, in my experience, are only good at provoking more taunting. :-/

negative negative negative.. being above reproach only gets you so far.. being meaner or being friends with meaner ppl are the only thing that helps.. and well if the "society" actually has a morale consicenous and sticks about it instead of it being willy nilly..

My 2 cents is I was never a big fan of name calling and drama here and that applies to anywhere in life. It will be around though. I cant say that jumping in situations will change it. It wont. Doesnt make me an ass or anyone else.. I just know when things are not going to be resolved by jumping in.

I watch my areas on the board and try to help in them. I know what you are saying though..

I agree. If I for example signed up there and posted some ugly things about any of you here...and you didn't respond or let me and everyone know that you find it unacceptable...then hell....I'll post some more! You don't care so why should I care? Let's get to posting!

I think it is smart for anyone in this situation to NOT reply and NOT go directy against that person as you said but to take the higher ground. Your post is spot on.

Drama is me talking about you wether it is true or not.. Me being an ass to you and pointing and laughing at you while no one does anything is not drama.. It is poor manners and if the ppl around it allow it, they are almost just as much at fault Somoene mentioning in passing tha tis missed up or just plain silly, is actually voicing against a bad behavior...
