Has it been tested enough to publish to the main servers without problems? Will scripts break and inventory go missing? Will permissions start changing on their own again? I hope it's a flawless update but after enough years in MMOs and enough experience with SL, I'm approaching with caution. In other MMOs, I would actually just avoid logging in at all on update days to give the techs time to repatch (or even back patches out, which also happened) and chase down database weirdness. I'm anxious to see what this update does, though, so I'm sure I'll probably log in tomorrow night to peek... and make my first floppy prim Secondary question: How long before we see floppy stuff for sale? I'm betting some of the better hair designers already have them waiting and we'll see them for sale in a day or two. Floppy hats, skirts and tiny ears not far behind. In a few months some genius will come up with something nobody else thought of, and create the new craze in SL. First we have to survive update day. What's your plan?

From: Cindy Claveau First we have to survive update day. What's your plan? Mostly finding other things to do because I have a bad feeling about all this, and just hope that there are 'off' switches so that the game can be made playable again. I have a fairly low framerate at times as it is, can't afford to upgrade my PC yet again, and hope that SL just doesn't spec itself out of its playerbase. After all, in the time I've been here, the fps has dropped drastically due to all the 'new functions' ... isn't it about time the minimum pc spec was revised? Lewis

Not looking forward to it... I get bad framerate usually, but it's pathetic in preview.

Hmm, I have to agree completely. Im not looking foward to the update either, long downtime, major crashes, database errors, incompatability issues, technical horrors, repatching, unpatching, everyone having a headache.....
*Calms herself down* Ok it may not quite be as bad as all that, but I am, very concerned about being able to even play SL once the update comes out.

I'm curious to see how (if) occlusion culling improves my framerate. My experience in preview has been very, very good. But that's a fairly limited arena.

My framerates are fine.. my system does lighting well, and shiny, its just the floppy irritates it for some reason. And me. Its juts more shinies when we need bug fixes..

You guys aren't helping. Implied between the lines of my original post was the message, typed with invisible pixels, "Help! I'm scared! Please tell me it'll be ok!?" Now I need some Tums.

I just hope the prim changes involving taper don't break a lot of my stuff. Assuming they make it in.

Its juts more shinies when we need bug fixes.. My only concern is that my primary box is my laptop (so I can SL without going down to my dingy basement). And Nvidia doesn't make drivers for the HP Pavillion on board nvidia card anymore. So if there is any hiccup in my ability to use SL because I can' t update the notebook's driver's I'll be exiled to the basement. At least now my wife and I can pretend to spend some time together as she grades papers and I do the SL thing.

So far the Preview Grid has shown me much improvement on Framerates. Walking is easier now with OC. Turns back to crap when flying. I had a few moments where the FPS indicator went OFF the scale! WOOHOO!!!

Staying out until the day after at least. Then I'll only be in to deal with customers and maintenance - SL's lost much of it's charm of late and I think the update may well be the icing on the cake...

ok, after a few minutes of "down for maintenence"... im in and lag is normal. *shrugs* could be cause few people are here. Im on a laptop as well and everything seems fine.
Now if LL can only pull it off with as few bugs as possible!
Off to play with flexi-prims!

Most people are looking at the Flashy stuff. (Oooo! Sparkley!)
As a PHP programmer, I am almost wacking off about the http functionality.
There are a LOT of database things that this will address. My test in the preview made a call to my "tagline/sage" database on my webserver and spits out a witty saying every 15 minutes or so.
This means I can keep a lot of the actual "work" on my webserver and not make LSL do all the work with its limited memory/mips. It also means I can get over a lot of the limitations of SL/LSL as far as comunications go. *whoopie*
