From: Daz Honey ok I have a female avi and I am a hetero-guy, pretty common, no big deal for most of us to accept I think. This is kind of funny. I'm a guy in SL and I have a G/F that I was making clothes for so I built a female avi to check them out on before I gave them to her. So one day I'm in a club and as a joke I put on the avi along with "The Captain" and told everyone I was a pre op transexual. Well, it turned out to be a hit and I started to get more attention from the girls than before. So I guess some women want to "experiment" with lesbianism but like to have a penis instead of a strap on involved. Go figgure.

From: Lisse Livingston I just got home and haven't read anything except this thread yet (and I infer from other comments that Richie/Richina has been annoying people elsewhere today) but the comment you quoted simply said he flirted, but didn't cyber. Do you know that he already doesn't come clean and say he doesn't cyber? It seems like you're condemning him for misleading acts that he didn't actually say he did... unless he did somewhere else that I missed *confused*
Maybe you and I have very different definitions of flirting, but I've never assumed that onliune flirting is a promise of cybersex, or RL flirting to be a promise of actual sex (and that's actually a very hot topic for many RL women). Actually, Lisse, what he SAID was "Hit on"... There's a difference in my book between hitting on and flirting. And this issue might have been simply a matter of semantics, but as far as I ever used the term, to "Hit on someone" can be cause for sexual harrassment at work, whereas "Light Flirting" cannot. Maybe that's just me.

I'm male RL...and this avatar is male though the name might be misleading to some.
That said I have played female avatars in numerous MMOGs over the years since my early days of Ultima Online.
Someone, in Anarchy Online, once asked me why I play a female. I always play in 3rd person view and I replied; "If I'm going to look at an ass I'd rather look at a female ass."
That though was mostly a tongue-in-cheek answer. Usually game worlds are much richer for female avatars. Sort of like RL, look around in SL and tell me what most products are geared towards.
What gets me the MOST though is that I'm an old guy by most of your standards. Gender to me is a biological roll-of-the-dice and gender urges mostly of biochemical nature.
You young people, brought up in a world with virtual spaces, are often more rigid in their thinking and more governed by their biochemistry and I am! I'm continually stunned by the number of people claiming to be young, open-minded and living in a world of technology...converging on a day when we'll change our gender like we change our hairstyle...that have SUCH strong personal issues with gender.
Who cares what the gender of the person behind the keyboard is anyway? Even for those of you that go for the cyber sex scene, or even fall in love in a virtual world, why would it make ANY difference...if you're never going to meet the person RL...what their behind-the-keyboard gender is?
Gender is for RL procreation, many of you treat it as some cosmic property of your soul. I find that baffling.

badly worded i guess..
"hit on" to me is IM someone "hey baby u look hot wanna go somewhere" this richie doesnt even do...
What Richina does: Say to room directed usually at bizarre/ugly as sin avatars: "hey baby you look hot wanna go somewhere ROFL"
sutble difference.. you really need to analyze it closly to see the difference granted.

This is the internet: all men are men, all women are men too and all cute little girls are FBI.
I don't care men play female avatars, i don't care what they do with them. But...
In my opinion if you become friends (even the superficial online version) one should be honest to eachother. The women in here will know what i mean but as girls become friends we talk, about rl, about emotions, about everything. If i think i'm dealing with a girl i'm gonna talk different then if i am with a guy. For example: i'm never gonna whine about my period to a guy. To my girlfriend i can say what bothers me and she will understand as she goes through the same every month.
To find out after a long time someone is misleading you and listening to things you wanted to be 'girl to girl' is always a little shock to me. 'Didn't wanna offend you, sis' doesn't help much then. All i can think is : Get the f*ck out of my internet.
