Let's also not forget that these are being donated, free of charge, whereas anyone else would be paying thousands of dollars for the privilege. I guess it's all down to who you know.

Lewis

Lewis this is not a private shindig. This is a huge 3 day community event that bridges the real life world the people behind the aves with the 3 d virtual world of Second Life. It may be organized by volunteer community residents but its not for thoes resadents it is for every single resadent in SL and lets not for get that this is something That Linden Lab wants to happen.

This Is a great thing that is going to happen and I for one applaud every one Involved in the Planning, organizing and execution of the SLCC and lets not forget all the resadent volunteers who have or will be donating there time to make the SLCC the great event that it is.

Thank you all for your kind words. I just want to re-iterate that we're VERY happy that LL is donating ANY sims - and this is a wonderful gift. :)

If we need to figure a way to support the community - well, then, we're not a community run by LL, and we WILL figure out that way! It is what we're all about, after all. We can't thank them enough for their support, and perhaps it is time to figure out how to stream to "the world", as it were, instead of "the grid".

That said, I believe many of the points raised above are valid, and either way, I'm really looking forward to this year's SLCC. :)

Regards,

-Flip

I was working on a stage area, but it's worked out much better than I expected so I think I'll keep it to myself. Sorry.

I've been asked some questions in IMs, and decided to post the clarifications here so everyone thinking of submitting a bid can benefit from them.

We have four sims to work with; the build proposal should plan to build in four sims, and incorporate the garden that already exists in one sim. The four sims are: Abundance, Varnish, Cirque and Andesite. Feel free to check them out. The garden elements and waterfalls will remain, but there's certainly plenty of room around them for some wonderful builds. The current build in place will be deleted.

If anyone who can't make the Convention wants to hold viewing parties at their place, please get in touch. We will consider allow other locations to host the video stream as well so the maximum number of people can enjoy the event.

Submissions by email are fine, and just text. Pictures are not necessary, but if you feel they will help explain your submission, feel free to attach them.

Regards,

-Flip

Is someone building a forum memorial for the convention build? It just seems fitting now.

I'd suggest designing it with the SL 'hand' logo but with only the middle finger fully extended. That's how many of us feel we are being treated.

It's a sad day. Maybe they can sell off the URL forwarding? :)

The SLCC builds are on Andesite, Abundance, Varnish and Balance. They just were opened to the public today as we still are in the process of getting sponsor builds and the primary build finished.
