Does anyone have any suggestions to keeping a no fly island, NO Fly? Seems if people fly in they can remain flying til they land, they can even teleport in hovered and the go into fly...
Any suggestions how to stop this? Please help!

I myself dont like that kind of ”surprise”.. to land and be aware that I cant fly around.. or fly away.. and I have no clue how you shall be able inform me or any - about that before I come to your sim or before I land. .

But thats no answer to your question - sorry - Only ”my little view” in the matter...

Take care - !!

All I can say is that I despise no fly.

I use Wet Ikon ROAM... why? It has something I call a "Super Jedi Jump"—keep pressing the Page Up key and you can double-, triple-, quadruple- jump and keep getting higher and higher.

This has saved my av@$$ in a variety of situations.

Thats great but I am not asking how people feel about no fly...
This is for the island Chaotica, which is a Drive-In and if you go there you will see why it needs to be no fly...
Anyways, any suggestions?

Unfortunately I don't know a 100% way to lock this out.

There are way too many workarounds...

Anyone?

You might want to check with the Numbakulla folks, they did it on their sim.

There really isn't any nice way to enforce a no-fly.

Choices, all with drawbacks:

Sensor near telehup point, spots new avatar. If avatar is flying, it:
1) IMs them as asks them not to.
2) Swats them down with a push and IMs "Stop flying and I'll stop swatting".
3) Teleports 'em home, IMing them with a "try again with your feet on the ground".

Maybe sensor for flying avs and push them down.

I don't think there is a solution to this, as an avatar's state is preserved while teleporting.

I remember seeing a solution to this a long time ago... seems it was something like, have the telehub enclosed in a box that requires the person to sit-teleport to get out.

That would work, but they can fly in from the attached sims :(

Part of what I remember from that beautiful island is that the telehub spawnpoint was on the ground, and it was a single sim so crossing across the border didn't work. I don't remember any special techniques tho?

Do the sims have to be attached for any particular reason? Is it part of an overall cohesive theme? Hmmm.

This does raise some good questions!

As well as point out a shortcomming.

Allowing the av to continue flying over a no-fly zone is nessesary for the mainland. For a private island, on the other hand, it's often a real liability.

As I've mentioned before, SL needs more actual attractions - and what Sensual is up to is clearly that. But without the proper tools...

Private islands need to be allowed to turn off flying, period. You fly in, you fall sort of arrangement.

I'm all about pointing out shortcomings!

There should be an additional Estate control for "FORCE NO-FLY" or something, that if you fly in from an adjoining island, you drop like a hotrock.

In addition to the other difficulties people have mentioned, you're also going to have to take into account flying vehicles. If you don't want them to be able to fly vehicles through, teleport in and stay flying, ect, you could probably have a script made that would push people back down if they were flying, but I'd imagine it could get pretty complicated.

We were going to put a script that did just that, and Adam Linden said it was against the TOS :(

I see we're going to need to convince LL that private islands are going to need some special exemptions if we're going to have the sorts of games and amusements SL is going to need to survive.

If you want no flys try flypaper, raid, frogs, or a good ols fashioned fly swatter.

It's interesting that it is not a violation of TOS for security scripts to knock people all over hell, and even teleport them home, but preventing them from flying in a NO FLY zone on a private island is a TOS violation. I love how their logic works sometimes.

Definitely NOT!!!

So special exeptions for private islands! Knocking people out of the sky is GRIEFING, plain and simple. If you want people not to fly, give them a notecard and tell them it looks better from ground level. Forcing the issue is just not on.
