Which would you prefer:

1. The classifieds the way they are now, with no ability to post a comment (and people not knowing where to post any such discussion) or

2. The classifieds changed to where comments are allowed, but they don't bump the thread up?

I would prefer no-bump, because it would be nice if people could post legitimate questions where others could also see the answers. Yesterday I had to IM someone to let them know they posted the same picture twice by accident, when normally I would have just mentioned it in the thread.

If it remains a choice between post-only or the former anything-goes method, I would prefer they keep it post-only. Despite some people playing airhead on the forums to prove a point, I haven't been bombarded with a rash of messages from people suddenly confused about everything.

I do hope this forces people to make their posts more informative, though, and that it sticks even if the forums are changed again. At the very least, list the permissions and location of your items. If no perms are listed, I'm not going to bother porting across the world to find out they aren't perms I'd purchase an item with.

I'd go for a no bump.

I don't really like it the way it is now, but I do see the point of doing it, but still think its a ridiculous idea to not alllow feedback except by PM or IM. Although I do admit its nice to not have to trawl through to see new stuff.

I have seen a few posts that have been minus landmark details/pictures etc, and at least if you could comment you could point that out to ppl without them being rude to you in world :)

I'd definitely prefer no bumping. I'll miss getting the feedback. Someone suggested adding a discussion/comment forum that would be seperate, which I think is a good idea, but I suppose not really necessary. I'd recommend that anyone who posts something in classifieds make sure their forum PM's are turned on. That's now the most logical way to ask a question or comment to the product poster.

I really like it the way it is. There been some new designers posting and IM'd them IN WORLD to communicate to them. Communication in SL is crappy but it is so crappy that people would rather post on message boards that use the IRC like chat within SL. Really the majority of discussion should go on in world, not on forums. Maybe this will make SL a social place once again, but I doubt it.

But the main reason I browse the classifieds and don't go shopping is because I'm NOT in world and don't intend to be.. And I'm not likely to make a little note of: the designer, the product and what I wanted to say/ask.. For everything I see that I want to ask a question about..

So unless people have PMs turned on most of the time it goes unanswered and I just forget about it..

I always appreciated the commentary in the classifieds because it is nice to get feedback. Its great for market research. If dress A goes ignored, but Dress B gets numerous hits to the thread plus alot of commentary. One might be inclined to make more dresses in Style B than Style A based on response and critiquing.

I always appreciated the comments I got from people and I enjoyed commenting on others' work as well. I think no bump would be the best way to go in this situation.

I think it's great with no comments or bump.

Works for me.

I'm surprised that 11 people like it with no comments.

As a content creator, I hated the "bumping" thing. But also, as a comment creator, I love to comment on good items, and to discuss them.

What is the reason for wanting no comments, if they don't bump the post? I don't really get it.

would be nice to hear whether their is a technical problem with making it no-bump or if simply LL policy, but I vote a hearty yes-comments-no-bump vote

I think taking out "Comments" will make their jobs easier since they dont have to deal with drama, and arguments...

So thats is an advantage for the workers, what about us? We create second life and we make new things, with out us there would be almost nothing.

Do we have a saying in this? Nope they decided for us.

If you actually want them to change, boycott the forums, or just post tons of message on the discussion forum to get philly's attention... lol it saved the classified before!! LOL

I voted no bump/yes comments earlier this morning. Didn't post because I voted the same in Wuvme's poll/thread earlier and I've been told I'm "too emotional" about this issue (and forums).

I like the no bump idea.

It's really a good thing that they changed it to no comment and hopefully later no bump, if that's even possible. There was a certain unevenness of threads there, where one thread by a popular designer would stay on top of the list for days, while all the rest got knocked to the bottom.

But regardless, I think comments are helpful, though they are a lot of the time: needless back-patting and post-count raising diatribes. Not that I don't enjoy the needless back-patting for sure.

I think they should allow bumping and grinding. :)

So, does "comments but no bumps" mean that they will always be listed by the original date instead of the last comment date? I think that would be the best solution. However, if you are looking for comments it means searching for the thread. This would keep the "ad that requires lots of questions" from staying at the top of the list.

Yes, that's what I meant - by original date.

~We want to comment...We want to be heard~

I prefer comments/no bump if it is available, if it's not....well we are pretty much stuck with how it is now. I do not like how it is now because I like to comment and ask questions in the thread as opposed to starting a thread about it or IM/PMing the creator. I know that a lot of times creators get swarmed with messages so how do I know my question will get through or answered? I have had way better luck getting a question answered in a thread than in IM/PM.

I do recommend that everyone who posts something new please have your PM's turned on and cleared so people can message. I also would like to know who made everything that is shown in the ad, if you are going to advertise then I'd like to know where to get everything that is shown (even if it is not by the creator posting) I always feel bad asking when I see an ad about clothes for instance and wonder where the model got her hair, skin etc. It really would help people out to just see a footnote of the other items shown.

Maybe a workaround the no comment thing would be for each creator who posts in the forums to have a group thread here so we can comment and ask questions there as opposed to IM/PM or clogging General with questions. Just a thought...

As long as people can act like adults and stick to the the true intent, i personally prefer comments with no bump. i agree that it's been lovely to not have to weed thru to find the new posts. and i'm not sure i think the star rating thing works terribly well.....but maybe better than nothing. i miss getting the feedback and being able to comment on others' hard work as well as giving those new to designing the much needed support and encouragement they deserve :)

For what it's worth, we've made a new forum /244/1.html for just this purpose.

You're all welcome to post product feedback threads there.
