There has been a lot of talk about differences in how we portray our selves with our avatars this week: race, color sex. I am not sure if race covers thing like furries, elves and aliens.
This got me to thinking about avatars available. In the past few days I have done quite a bit of looking around. I have noticed some variety including some very different or alien skin colors. I have also noticed these avatars always seem to come in male and female. Are there any good androgynous avatars out there? What have you seen where sex is not readily apparent?

A silver ball with what I think is a single narrow gunbarrel poking out.
A mechanical spider.
Actually we can make our avatar look like anything. These are not androgynous ... more like, sexless. LOL

My avatar is supposed to be male. Think cute indie-goth type boi, however. A lot of people think my avatar is female. Its kind of fun having obvious minors hitting on me and then saying, "BTW, I'm male. Are you gay?" Then ensuing freak out is always wonderful to observe!
Regards,
-Flip

Um, I'd say a good % of the human male population is androgynous;p
But that aside, most furries never seem very masculine, and barely femenine. Just the screaming Disney look about them, I guess.
Anyway, there's a whole host of robots, free-floating orbs, and as always, you could make whatever you want. Like a few weird alien people I see here and there.

U mean a shape than? If so I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be hard to make one.

I use the female body shape, but I'm definitely supposed to be male, it's just the the male body shape is ugly and a pain to work with. =|

MM I did it once... I definatly knew who was male then! But to be fair, I also found a lot of suprises on Male Human avitars, and I swear, "Alt shows Physical" shows a lot of suprises for Female Human avis as well... We all got our needs, I suppose.

Depends on the furry av, too. Luskwood and Lost Creatures, for example, specialize in the more "cartoony" look, whereas others (Jakkal Dingo's Werehouse comes to mind) try to go for something more "realistic". I enjoy both approaches. (In any case... I seem to get more creepy guys hitting on me when I'm in my half-dragon look than when I'm human!)

MM Don't have to do that around me, unless I'm teaching. I'm clearly male and I'm not shy about showing it. I get lots of complements about my appearance too so I can't be that hard on the eyes, even if you are pro PG. Not that I won't don some pants if asked.

I certainly regularly get mistaken for a boy. I don't really make it easy to tell from a distance when I'm wearing my trademark red jacket and black trousers but honestly... have you ever tried manually recalibrating a counterclockwork engine or scrubbing the soot out of a cannon barrel whilst wearing a dress? Not practical.

From: Whimsycallie Pegler What have you seen where sex is not readily apparent? Working on some. Still finishing up a few scripts. Will release soon on threat of bankruptcy for all the land I own but had to stop developing in order to get these avatars out of my head.
