From: katykiwi Moonflower ... so I accepted that I was screwed and released it all... Your land is not worthless. Cheap land that most people would consider undesirable is sold all the time. Look in Find, under land sales. If you really have decided to sell no matter how much you lose, at least put it at near the low end of the price scale on the land sales list, or if you're truly desperate, you can try to put it lower than anything for sale. At the very least land is worth 3.8$L/meter at the lowest in the auctions. Most auctions start at an even higher price. Most things will sell in a timely fashion below this price no matter what condition they are in, since first land and public land are the only other ways to get land that cheap. If you are truly desperate. I am pretty sure that selling at a price of say 2.0$L/meter will get you a sale in minutes in most cases. Land is not that worthless, but if you must sell for some reason, and you have to sell today, realize there is another option than just not getting any money at all.

From: katykiwi Moonflower Serves us right for expecting more. Once you accept you were screwed by a heartless callous unfeeling uncaring cold as ice fuck you decision you can try to move on as I wll try to do. Oh that goes for hubs too.
I think the reason a lot of people have reacted so negatively to telehub land owners is because of a perceived sense of entitlement that a lot have shown. Everyone in SL who owns land takes a risk. There is land I paid a fortune for to acquire that I will never begin to recoup the costs on because of changes in the land market. You take a risk, you reap the rewards but also have the risk. On top of that, many telehub land owners have far and away made back the money they spent on the land by charging high rents to have stores at the hubs. Also, those complaining the loudest (yes you, Anshe) are complicit in causing the telehubs to be the reviled crapholes that people are trying to escape. You don't get to fuck up SL, profit off of it by driving people to private islands by saying "escape the lag from malls!" and then cry when they do something about it. It's hard to feel sorry for someone talking about how much money they invested in creating lag inducing malls at every telehub in SL. Many people have suffered financial losses in SL for a wide variety of reasons. I had half of my stuff released as copyable through an exploit - no compensation. Schwanson lost more than half his inventory - no compensation. The list goes on and on. When people start screaming for compensation and one group gets it over another, it just adds to an atmosphere of contempt and unfairness. I am sorry that your investment in telehub land did not work out, Katy. Just don't misread animosity toward telehubs and the outcry against them as animosity toward you, because it's not.

From: Jeffrey Gomez I can only imagine how bad it would be if scripters demanded recompense for having their work broken. Repeatedly. Bears repeating. Scripters pour god knows how many hours into making something functional, and LL can break it across the board in a single point update. But yet telehub land owners who apply their mindboggling skills of owning and selling land at overinflated prices are due compensation? Doubtful. People screaming for compensation over this really make themselves out to be pretty shallow. You made your money while the getting was good - now accept you were profiting off of a temporary situation and move on. I'll save my outrage for people that are honestly getting screwed out of blood, sweat, and tears by LL.

Linden Lab didn't set the prices on telehub land.
Players did.
Why should LL compensate again?
Noone twisted arms to buy it. Sims on the edge of the world have a higher perceived value too - should LL compensate the land owners there when they expand the world?
Tough titties.
Everything old is new again anyways - we had P2P teleporting in 1.0.
