I have posted on several tech threads about these crashes. Im thinking alot of ppl that read the general therads, probally do not read the tech threads. So, I am posting links to the threads that seem to have the same problems I have been experiencing here in the general thread. Maybe if enough ppl see this and add to it, enough attention to the problem will get it fixed faster. /111/8f/114779/1.html/111/7e/133423/1.html#post1256270/111/64/132271/1.html/111/66/132565/1.html

I didn't have any problems, but then I was off and on the game so much yesterday that I didn't give it a chance to. I did lag horribly though.

My problem usually involves when I'm making something and carefully rotating it, only to have the rotation go haywire or everything linked moving around whenever I unclick the object....

I crash on a regular basis...every 10 to 20 minutes. Sometimes I crash when I click a button, ot rez a tree ...anything. I didn't have too many gripes about the interface until now. The stability is just horrible. I can't have a complete converstation woth a friend without crashing. Kinda ruins the mood too! Linden Labs...you MOOD KILLERS! Please bring back the romance and stop us from crashing!!!

oh and try directly plugging into your cablemodem, could be your router dropping packets or causing a bottleneck.

I constantly crash taking snapshots. Seems to take much longer to send a postcard then it use to. Either it takes a long time to send, or I crash.

I've been crashing every night, couple of times sometimes, since the last update, or maybe it was the one before.
Anyway, it's not a matter of doing anything in particular that I can tell. It almost always happens when I'm building, or sometimes when I go into a mall or someplace with a lot of textures (which didn't used to happen). I don't have a router.
Since it's only once every few hours, I just don't worry about it and figure it is the way things are.

I dont generaly get a single crash that is SL related. I was crashing like mad though, because of instabilities in overclocking my system, does that count?

I have been having crash problems. It has been within the last month. I will be enjoying SL then those bars will start jumping around.... green, yellow, green... yellow .. uh oh.. red! Even when my avatar was just standing still I would see those bars still creeping up to red... then the big freeze. I have found a way not to crash out of SL though. I click on the world tab. My service returns to normal and I go on my way.
I am not technical. I don't know why it works. I don't know if the problem is on my end, my providers end, or SLs. (my sweetie who is technical insists it is not our system) I don't know if it is a bug. I don't think I could give enough usefull information if it is a bug. So, for now I just deal with it. I would be interested to hear why clicking the world tab works or if it works for anyone but me.

I get that problem too, and the rotation one - or if I move or change the size of a linked part, all the unselected parts start to move around everywhere. x_x I used to rarely, if ever crash, but in the past couple of weeks it's been a frequent thing, and lagging to the point of freezing. I'm quite relieved that it's not just me with the building problems.

ok, I started having serious crashes too since 2 weeks. Total Lock-ups and needed a hard reset everytime.
Reinstalled Graphic and soundcard drivers to make SURE i had the latest version. Checked Memory on extrended tests for 12 hours. Switched Memory banks in diff. slots. Runned a reg cleaner, runned the direct-X test, compressed C, defragged C Changed graphich cards (Nvidia and ATI chips) Took out 1 memory bank (and run it on just 1 GB) Got extra cooling in my pc.
Nothing helped!!
I have been busy trying solving it for the last 10 days and finally i run 1 day crash free now.
Ok, now here come the funny part, i have this Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse, Windows XP instals a common driver for that mouse ( standard PS/2 mouse)
I got me their Intellipoint software (IP55_32Eng.exe) for windows XP home edition. Believe it or not, but I am running a full day crash free since I installed that.
For the die-hard crashers amoug us, its worth a try.

probably 99.9% of you know this...

What I try to do when I crash a lot is, to take the unnecessary programs off my hard drive. Sometimes that helps. It also helps me to defrag the hard drive thoroughly and also (very very optional) do a registry clean program. If I do all that and I'm still crashing, then it's either 1) SL or 2) maybe a hardware incompatibility issue. My laptop used to crash a lot until I figured out it was overheating.
