IT is highly apparent that certain SL players deem themselves so far beyond the majority, that they have risen to the status of virtual gods. I would like to point out that this is more a case of bigheaded egotistical megalomania at work rather than actual apotheosis. Regardless of ANY players SL virtual worth, be it through talent or just plain hard work, each of us deserves equal treatment and a modicum of respect. Otherwise, SL will remain as bigoted and xenphobic as RL, which is far from acceptable. Would be deities must always bear in mind that there is a human (from a minority online-gaming subculture) behind each avatar they abuse. I am appalled that such behaviour can come from people that invariably in RL have no social skills/life. It smacks of sociopathic displacement and is a major cause for concern.

Please continue this thread with a list of possible candidates for "godhood", judged by those who have been abused by them...this will become a Jury of Peers for once.

My own vote goes to "LotusEater Zeus"....(edited due to possible thread deletion, again...)

...for making all us feel just that little bit more human, albeit one in a fascist police state...

I guess I need to get out more. I been here about 2.5 years and I have never seen this. I have seen people that are too cool for school that arent interested in talking to a huge orange guy with horns, but I never chalked it up to these reasons.

How can you on one hand remind these 'deities' that there is a human behind each avatar but then turn around and blanket them with statements saying they "have no social skill/life."? It sounds like you are the very thing you are complaining about. Another thing is that some of these 'deities' are very personable/social. Sure a few might be lacking in social skills but then again arnt we an online community? Thats to be expected given the nature of computer 'geeks'. This thread really seems to be about one thing: "Im upset with someone".

Yes, every free account with a griefing penis gun and a racist, deformed av deserves the exact same treatment as the residents who've been here for months and have joined the community, and have contributed greatly to its forward momentum.

You don't deserve respect just because you managed to type "HAI GUYZ" in the welcome area before pooping your pants.

As for xenophobic tendencies... this is true of any society that's constantly attacked by outsiders. See: BDSM folks, furries, vampires, SA goon episodes, etc. Once you get burned too many times, you eventually don't want to leave the safety of the cave.

Yes, this is just a thread about who im upset with, the original thread was deleted far too quickly for true feedback. Yes, i also have no social skills/life. Yes, i live in a glass house and i throw stones, who doesnt?

Just list the "gods" and leave the "my mate is sacrosanct" for other sycophantic threads...

Ohh for the love of gawd. Get off your horse! I have the whole chat on notecard from the time you entered to the time you and your friends left. You were never talked down to, you never talked to anyone thus noone other than greeting you said anything up until you and your friends were asked to remove your dance balls. Also, you were asked a few times to remove lag causing dance balls. If a club owner does not want certain object, sounds, etc in their club{s} it is their right!! THEY PAY for their club!! NOT YOU! If rules are made..and you do not like them..find elsewhere to hang your hat. But to belittle a club owner for asking you to remove something to help lag.ppft..GROW UP..I Like the fact this club owner is making rules. Lag in SL is bad enough without people comming in herds with laggy dance balls, or anough bling to light up a city street. It is great that the conversation in this club isn't the SAME as almost every club in SL. Let's see, how does it go. ohh like this " OMG the LAG is horrid, I cannot move, why is the lag so bad. blahhhh blaahhhh blaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If you like dance balls..great!! Bling..great!! Just do not complain ONE club asked you not to wear them. Now you can blast me ALL you want in this, cause the fact remains. WHO EVER OWNS THE CLUB HAS EVERY RIGHT TO MAKE THE RULESSSSSSSS! I looked, your name is not on her land. lol

I almost partially agreed with you, but then I got to the "Lets name names and get pitchforks and torches and RBABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!" part and I immediately bashed my skull against my keyboard until I passed out.

When I woke up I remembered that we are ALL ONE, and should just all shut the hell up and get along.

Almost worth bumping - There are many people, in and out of SL, in and out of the forums, who really need to learn what the word "humility" is and come off their high-horse - then again, there are also an equal amount of people who just appear to enjoy arguing, finding things to gripe and whine about, instigate, cause conflict and disagreement, ect. They feed off eachother. There is no way to stop it all, all we can do is stop ourselves.

To quote the Tao, "Give evil nothing to oppose, and it will disappear by itself". If you scream back and forth, you only fuel the fire. We're all guilty of it, hell I've made some snide comments and panic'ed and fed unnecessary drama. But it takes a pretty evolved person to see through the cycle and step out of it.

That settles it, this is now a sycophantic thread then...didnt take long at all. Why doesnt anyone who has these supposed "notecards full of evidence" copy and paste them here? Surely then, any readers can make up their own minds, rather than perusing this droll propaganda...

I will not post the notecard here, you can get it from me in world if you so choose. This is all I will say about your childish tact to be noticed in SL. But Hey it worked, just not sure in a possitive way. :) Have a good day.

Heya,

Its god. Just wanted to let you know, reports of my megalomania are grossly exagerated. I don't even think you should capitalize my name.

That being said, my greatest fault is that my perfection makes others feel inadequate.

Live long and prosper.

No one here is a god. You can run into people who think they're self-important, just like in real life. My boss is like that in real life. It doesn't make it any more true.

Sounds like you ran into someone with excess confidence. Just opt out. There are plenty of places to go and things to see and do here. There's nothing wrong with leaving the in-clubs to the in-crowd.

The definition of who that crowd is varies from week to week or month to month anyhow.

This was the same thinking (albeit not quite the same colorful language I would have chosen :D ) which I had during the invested resident versus the casual tourist debacle. I felt it was the messenger rather than the message which was disliked as this attitude has been expressed without much argument. I am truly interested and curious about such desparate reactions engendered based on which individuals are targetted for attack. I am not specifically focusing on your individual response in these cases, LF, but rather the more general attitude towards others using SL in a manner different from ones own.

How do we go about creating a more cohesive community amongst individuals representing various types of personal investestments and endeavors (creators, scripters, designers, land management, events & games,...) ? This "name the sl gods" attack just doesn't seem that different in nature than previous anti-commercial endeavors, anti-evil land baron, or anti-social player campaigns. All these factions have residents who have been here for months and have joined the community, and have contributed greatly to its forward momentum.

Milo, Milo, Milo. Let's briefly recount your history. In your first post to this board (last night), you dicided the thing to do was to pick a well respected member of the community and maliciously badmouth her. That thread lasted about 15 minutes before being deleted, and I'm sure you must have been warned not to break the rules of the forums again. So what's your answer? Today you come back and try to solicit others to do what you did last night by asking for some kind of list of names.

That's just not how things work around here, bud. If you're finding that people are rude, antisocial, and/or god-complexed everywhere you go, well maybe you should consider what these otherwise seperate and individual people have in common when you're in their presence. It's called projection. You see, people who think most other people can't be trusted, for example, think that because they themselves are untrustworthy. People who think everyone must love chocolate ice cream think that because they themselves love chocolate ice cream. People who think everyone else is rude, antisocial, and/or god-complexed... well, you get the idea.

I suspect you already know that though, and your goal here is simply to cause as much trouble as you can before you eventually get yourself banned, which you will. Have fun on your next board when this one closes the gates on you. Don't forget to write. Oh wait, scratch that. You won't be able to.

Okay, how about this instead then? Play nice now, quit all the negativity, and just have a good time like the rest of us. See what happens whe you're actually nice to people for a change. I dare you.
