I have to admit that I read about the first 3 paragraphs of this thread. Here is my opinion:
Lay off the kid gloves just a bit LL. Forums are made for posting.

well what im concerned about is ...Ok say we have people post in general about stuff in classifieds..(as Lindens apparently want us to).
You run into a few issues: 1. you have multiple people posting new threads in general about the same ad, unaware that maybe even the same question was raised somewhere else. 2. the creator not even finding the questions in order to answer. 3. the creators trying to solve this by making thier own question thread when they post in classifieds. Thats the only solution i can think of with this dunb as hell change. 4. your right back at square 1....a general section full of re-worded classified ads. Has LL been big brother so long that they have lost touch of the pulse of the community that much?...hmmm....WOW! ![]() _____________________

The only problem I can see is with someone ripping people off and not being able to call them on it in a noticeable place.
Other than that, I think Barnes' suggestion is the best thing I've heard. Ever. The last time I posted in the classifieds my thread was half way down the page in 15 minutes until someone bumped it. I know there was a house that was at the top of the forum for at least a week. IT'S NOT A NEW PRODUCT ANYMORE. I don't get why the whole world needs to know that you like something unless its for attention. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving credit where credit is due but if it came down to losing all the powder puff posts to get rid of the spam then I'm in. I'm not saying I hate everyone that bumps threads, because that was what you had to do to stay on the front page. But now you don't! I go through enough trouble making an ad, I don't need to worry about getting posts to make sure someone will see it. I don't think it would really bother me that much if someone updates their stuff (like hair with new textures) because it's kinda a new product. I would rather see stuff that is kinda new instead of stuff that is old. And when you think about it... If someone bumps a thread after a few days and it takes up a spot on the first page again thats sorta the same as having two different threads because it still takes up room when you bump it. I don't know if I explained that right. I can usually tell if people like what I create because they buy it or you know, they IM me. I don't see how "im gunna jump u k? 8}" really counts as a helpful critique. I also don't see how 14 posts of "gurl good job ![]() But I would probably read them no matter what the setup. Because I'm a chump like that. EDIT: "I would rather see stuff that is kinda new instead of stuff that is old." When I said that I meant sifting through the old posts and replies to get to updated stuff. It doesn't really make that much difference when it comes to how much time it takes. I just thought it made me sound tough and stuff. _____________________

I think Barnes' suggestion is the best thing I've heard. look at what barnes has to say - its a nice mature way to handle the whole "omg i can't have my way" so i'll run wild with sarcasm elsewhere. /invalid_link.html I R GENIUS _____________________

*licks Kritter* Your post was too long, but I love you anyway <3 <3 Well, it's a new day for me, and today... I don't give a fuck. Lindens, nerf all the features you want because of one or two complainers. Really. It's the Linden way! And given that they have put questions I asked about CS's new product in the Notices and Well Wishes forum, I can only assume the moderators are either deliberately having fun at our expense or have gone batshit insane. Either way it's beyond pathetic. So bollocks to it. Hell, close the forums for all I care! So. What shall I post about today to annoy the fuck out of y'all? Or shall I just go back to necroposting contraversial stuff? |

I have of late--but wherefore I know not--lost all my mirth, that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory, this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours.

yeah that!!! Cool. It's my goal to get every thread in the forum shut down retrospectively. It's fun to see how the rules of moderation have changed over the course of time. If you bump a 5 month old thread, these days it gets shut down for content that was apparently perfectly ok then. Then again, given that questions in response to advertisements are now apparently Well Wishes, I think we can safely say the moderators have gone batshit insane, so I don't know how much their moderation actually means any more. |
