So what makes you the one who knows all about all airports?

You do realize how foolish this makes you look yes? Please restrict this to your special SLCC thread ok?

Mordin - who made you thread monitor? And people wonder why this is going to get shut down. Great example there, sourpuss!

Jennyfur - thanks, I know...its going to be a pain in the ass. If I hadn't prepaid and booked a long time ago, I'd be making plans to be on a charter fractional/jetshare. Yeah, it would be worth it to me not to be fucking hasseled traveing. I'm really pissed about how this has been handled on TSA's and the gov'ts part.

Hearing stories on major outlets about how the USA pressured the UK into arresting the goofs early didn't help my mood, nor the fact that the alleged suspects didn't have passports or plane tickets.

See ya at SLCC. I'm not carrying anything extra, if I show up naked, so be it.

I am also transfering through Newark and on Continental flying out Thursday but am coming in for 11PM.. which, if you somehow miss your connection will probably end up on that flight.

Frans Charming also is transfering in Newark that day and on Continental and has the earlier flight.. so I think you both should be on the same plane. Look for the thin Dutchman. We are meeting up in the airport for when I get in...IM us if you want to join up with us. We have a native to the San Fran area SLer picking us up!

Yes, Frans is on the same flight by the look of things (so long as I manage to make my connection in time). I rang Continental this morning and they said the hour and a half was plenty of time to do the immigration, security checks etc. so they didn't think there'd be a problem. Mind you, whether I believe them or not... ;)

I'll be grabbing a taxi straight to the Serrano when I do get into SF, unpacking and probably having a drink in the bar, depending on what time I eventually arrive :)

Ah cool. :)
I called Continental as well, to see what i could or couldn't take with me. Only fluids aren't allowed. So that isn't a big problem. Maybe we should have somesort of sign to recognize each other. :p

Well - I leave Thursday night from Ft Laud airport so I'm hoping that a lot of the security issues will have been sorted out by then. Hubby just got back (Sat) from Apple WWDC and he did not have too difficult of a time, he flew out of Oakland to Ft Laud.

See ya all Thurs night or Fri morning. :)

Oakland is an easy airport to fly in/out of. Much less traffic than SFO, though not as convenient.

10,000 bags misplaced at airports

I guess we were not alone. This definitelt reinforces the bring a carry on bag statement

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4795821.stm

and that is *just* British Airways alone, who are much less inept than other airlines.

Really? Same BA that dropped me in Singapore and my lugage in Macau a couple of years back? Things must have improved.

I didn't say they were exempt of ineption because they are an airline afterall and that is a definition of ineptitude in and of itself.

I called United yesterday, and cell phones are still permitted on their flight.

I plan on not bringing any liquids, not doing the baggage check, printing my ticket at home, and avoiding half of the hassle. While I have to buy a few toiletries when I get to San Fran, I think it's well worth it.

Newark is a pretty decent airport you'll probably have less problems there than with other clusterfuck airports like Philadelphia, Chicago O'Hare and Atlanta.

I HATE atlanta. I have to go through that hub every time I visit family in New Orleans (I live in NYC) and it's ALWAYS horrifying.

If anybody's going to be in Newark waiting for the 3.35pm flight on Continental to SF (or later most likely!) tomorrow then I'll be the guy with the short hair and a green and white O'Neill messenger bag. So feel free to say hello :)

You should try driving in that city. You think the airport is horrifying...

Well I will be going from Louisville to Atlanta to Ontario...yes Ontario. Im meeting some friends there then we are driving up to San Fran. We couldnt get a room at the Serrano so we are staying at ummm well crap I forget the name...Palomar I believe. Luckly I have been in Atlanta airport before so when I picked my flight I made sure to have one with a layover that allowed for delays, getting lost in the airport etc. Im flying Delta for the first time, anyone have any expierence with them?

As far as carry on goes, I always pack a change of clothes in my carry on, even before all of this happened. I fly anywhere from 2-5 times a year so im used to how airports are.

Cant wait to see everyone

see you at the bar..

sounds like thursday night will be the "unwind with a drink" night for a few of us at The Serrano.

so, i'll make this my last post of the night and go grab some sleep before rushing about in the morning to get packed and out the door.

it should be easy to tell who each other is, we'll be the small gaggle of weary-eyed geeks that will grow throughout the evening.. most likely telling horror stories about the trip to get there! hehe..

Until after now...
