They offered them until the end of 2003.
Some of us have "Charter" on our profiles and didn't buy the lifetime account during beta.
I bought mine the very last day they were offered, which was just after Christmas 2003, and had to be talked into it. Thank goodness I was talked into it.
I know several people who have the title, and didn't buy the liftetime account until well after beta ended (I myself was a member of SL during beta though).
I once thought that maybe if you had been in beta and bought a LT account at some point, whether during beta or after, you got "Charter". However, I know people who were in beta and bought LT accounts who don't have the Charter tag... so something seems to be inconsistent with regards to this topic.
Maybe Kelly or another Linden can expand on why some have Charter on their profiles and why some don't.
