Just wondering about Lifetime Memberships... How do you get info on it, like how much is it ect..... Like you can't get one, I think yearly the cost is $72, so times that by how long you expect to live and pay that, kind of a do it yourself version. |

Just wondering about Lifetime Memberships... How do you get info on it, like how much is it ect..... They no longer offer them. Orignially you could pay $225 and get a lifetime account (this was way before you had to pay tier for land). Now you just get a free 4096 tier. It's nice. The Grignano Museum exists because of it. ![]() _____________________

no longer available

the $72/year is for Premium membership.
Lifetime accounts were offered long ago and cost what LF mentioned above. it came with a sizeable land "tier" that doesn't have to be paid after the initial payment. it was (from what i understand) a way of LL offering something special to whoever wanted it at the time, while at the same time it threw a chunk of money to LL allowing for further progress of SL. the bummer is, they are no longer available. _____________________

Lifetime memberships were only offered while Second Life in Beta.
They cost US$225 - and since Second Life was still in its infancy with an unclear future, folks who signed up for it at that time were taking a huge risk. It is not possible to get a lifetime membership today, unless its some sort of ultra-special Linden contest. In the two years I've been here, there has been one contest where they gave out one lifetime account. Folks who have a lifetime account display their account type in their profile as "Charter Member". _____________________

Need a time Machine
Go back to 2003 - bring a couple hundred dollars. then you are all set --- The Charter Members were early Second Life users who Invested in the companies future by pay a sizable chunk on a shaky proposition. |

Some one else can for sure tell this better than me:
This is something that was offered in the beta period.. and the title are CHARTER MEMBER. IF you yoined SL at that time and putted in some money you got this back - as a kind of reward. This is not possible today.. Maybe you get one if you put in 11 million dollars (real).. as an investment.-.. )/Tina - EXAKT free for weekend now at last and SL are down.. arghhhhh _____________________

*sigh* They were available after Beta, up until the end of 2003, and not all have Charter Member in their profile either.

*sigh* They were available after Beta, up until the end of 2003, and not all have Charter Member in their profile either. And not everyone with Charter Member has a Lifetime account. Thank you both. I was just going to post both of those things. Now, one thing I want to add. If you purchased a lifetime account BEFORE beta ended, it cost $159 USD. After that, the price jumped to $225. There was a short period of time between the announcement of 1.2 (where tiers were introduced and the lifetimes were dropped) and the release of 1.2 (when lifetimes were dropped) that many, many people purchased them, simply for the free 4096m2 tier. Those people didn't get the charter member title, though. I purchased mine for $159 on June 22, the last full day of beta. Pretty good investment, I think. ![]() _____________________
