Better but no ripple water for some reason - option is greyed out for me. Yet my FPS has risen and looking at the builds around me I'm getting 60-70 fps

Holy Shit it's fast!

My new Liferain Park build is a perfect test for Occlusion culling. It's very high density, needs large draw distances to get a sense of scale, and is filled with cut and twisted prims.
Yesterday, I was getting 10-12 fps walking around with a drop to 5 fps with a serious lag when turning with a 128m draw. Today, I'm getting 20+ fps consistently throughout the build with absolutely no lag whatsoever! I miss my shadows, but I just can't believe my eyes. This is the best new release I've seen in my second life! ![]() _____________________

PRO: My FPS is stable. Went up like 10 more. I swear i had 35FPS earlier O.o
CON: I crashed 1 time because i enabled flex on a flag then took it off and rotated it upside down. _____________________

I'm on my work PC at the moment with craptastic Intel integrated video - I'm usually at around 5 or 6 FPS inside the Shelter.
Just logged in and getting 11 FPS. Pretty nice improvement so far ![]() Can't wait to get home and try out my real PC ![]() _____________________

Seems better for me so far wandering around. Of course, the in-world population is still low. I'm sure that will have an impact later on.
But wandering around mostly empty sims is very smooth so far. Wendel |

It seems slightly faster for me, but I noticed when it installed the client it turned down most of my graphics settings to their default values.
It also automatically turned off things like bump mapping and shiny. I turned most back on, but am still fiddling with it. Perhaps a lot of the reports of super speed are just folks that didn't notice their graphic detail had been automatically reset? I predict it will settle at the same kind of performance or perhaps slightly better on the same settings (due to occluding). _____________________

Nope I've got everything on (apart from ripple water which I can't for some reason) and my FPS is definitely much improved - not just by a little either. _____________________

YAY ! I'm just happy it isn't sporked! I did see a noticable improvement in speed and just felt smoother to me in general and my settings are higher than i had them before. There were only about 8 or 900 on the grid at the time, so maybe i'm counting my chickens? But, i feel pretty confident the new version is going to run fine for me. I IMd several friends and everyone, but one was running with better fps. The new lighting is cool too.
![]() oh, and the open skirt layer is all better i'm pleased as punch. I hope everyone else is doing ok on this version! It must have been the sacrifice ritual performed last night. *bows head and chants blessing* _____________________

Better.. *Especially* considering that I have almost 2 full sims loaded now and I'm running 15-20fps.
I never saw why everyone was panicing and saying they'd have to buy a new computer.. Two of the three major changes for this version were designed to *improve* performance.. Oh well. _____________________

The distant land towards the horizon is wrong, it is sharp edged, making it obvious that one is in a square simulation. Land from adjacent sims doesn't show up at all when it would have in the past. The corners of the sim, which didn't used to be noticeable because of the blurring that ocurred in the distance, deform at certain angles and distances. This is the same as it was in the preview grid.
Flying along a roadway is sad, I still have to stop and turning around to watch the road rez behind me. This is the same as it have been for months now. It didn't used to be that way, a year or more ago. _____________________

Very good update, like Moopf my ripple water option is grayed out, although it worked fine beforehand not even a drop in FPS, but oh well! FPS is about 5 better than normal, which for soon after an update is spectacular.

Mac Rocks Too...
05-24-2006 14:06
Big Ol' G5 Dual Processor, 2.5GB RAM, ATI Pro Mac Edition (256) and 8 Mbit cable connection. It rocks.
Picked up FPS all over the place - 10+ in general to 20's, 30's and some 40's. And inside a build....woot for occlusion culling! Features Tab - Flex and Lights are also great. In fact Lighting has to be turned down in Intensity and Radius due to the brightness it renders. And, oh yeah, SL recognizes the AGP slot (always has for me). Sorry to hear Mac OS 10.3.9 has a bug, but 10.4.6 appears to be solid with the new client. Thanks Brent and team. ![]() |

I'll let you know, if I can ever log on again. They screwed up compatability with Mac OS X 10.3.9, and I can't get in! So for me, performance is now a flatlined ZERO.

If you get the huge pink graphics splotches then adjust your mesh textures for bending and non bending objects it seems to have cleared up my problems
