1 million Lindens at 255 per $1. Wonder how long that will last? 2hours?

1 million?? That's it! Dr Evil is holding LL to ransom, it all makes sense now!

I do feel for the Liaisons, because everyone I deal with is seriously pissed. If I am having problems just with my resdents, they must be getting it big time!

business is down about 60%. it's hard to sell physics enabled stuff when the sims run about as stable as a crack whore 3 days before the 1st of the month.

My business systems in-world are unable to connect to DreamHost. None of my sales are getting recorded and I can't work on anything that relies on my back-end.

As the oldest profession abounds in SL and seems immune to recession, you could always literally rely on your back-end for sales.

I'm having to explain to a lot of tenants that things happening are not my fault, and ensuring them that LL will fix it in time :( I have just signed out as I just can't do anything I need to do. I tried to clear a parcel I need to set up for leasing again (resident left), but every time i click on the return button, I get booted from SL. A liaison was as helpful as he could be, but when he tried he would just get booted also.

Have you seen the money chair owners are putting in their shops?!

Yes I have. I'm not sure how I feel about it. They pay out an obscenely low amount of money, but they are always chocked full of people - so I guess on the whole, its a boon for workers?

And here is sales by month; you can see that October, despite the 1.7 release, has been our strongest month ever (we're to the point of paying back our investment now, and hope to be in the black some time in 2006):

So, we had a slowdown for a bit, and there have been some problems. Francis, I haven't had any problems with email going from SL ---> my servers at all? I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing. XML-RPC was semi-borked for an hour or two following release, but it was taken care of pretty quickly. Inventory passes were a bit flaky following the release, but have stablized as far as I can tell from the amount of customer service inquiries Jennyfur and I have had.

All that said, I really feel for those of you in the rental business. You're an immediately target for the frustration of the customer, yet your hands are tied. That sucks.

Regards,

-Flip

As far as sales of pre-existing products, it has remained steady, although tech support calls have increase due to connectivity and sim performance issues (so thus, profit - in terms of time - have decreased).

I like some above on this post cannot bring out a new product I was wanting to due to the whole Dreamhost issue. Likewise, performance has kinda crippled my desire to contrinue to work on things since my patience just can't handle it.

Sales seem more or less stable. Maybe slightly down, due to extreme lag problems in Daikoku sim. But still in range of normal fluctuation.

1.7 broke one or two items, although not as extensive as previous point updates or the 1.6.5 llGetTexture nerfing.

Slower scheduling and sim lag sometimes seem to cause delays in several scripts, causing an increase in customer service requests. Customer service is harder due to me having severe FPS problems myself.

Current and new building/scripting projects are basically all on hold until FPS problems are resolved.

Hey Flipper, thanks for the transparency.

Your perspective is more global than what the rest of us have, and your numbers are more up to date and less obfuscated than what SL provides us.

It's a huge service!

Thanks again.

BTW, my calculations show that SLExchange is averaging around 500-600 transactions per day at the moment, which was their pre-update average as well.

So business looks somewhat normalized.

My sales have been for crap for the last few days, I guess it could be 1.7 at the helm of that but it might have started before, can't remember.

I heard they took the bonus part of the stipend out that you got for ratings so now everyone gets even less money per week, which might be why. But I haven't verified that fact yet so I wouldn't take it for truth.

My sales are down a bit since 1.7, but seem to be picking back up now that things are settling some.

I knew it would happen as soon as I saw what 1.7 did to texture loading. No one wants to stand in a store and wait an hour for rez to buy a shirt, only to have that shirt end up grey half the time anyway. And I don't blame them.

Blaze, no problem at all - I've always intended to show "how things were going" so people realize that running web-based services isn't exactly cheap or easy. Even with that many transactions per month, I'm just now beyond the monthly break-even point given my costs of having a dedicated server in a colo facility.

Also, just for the record, my numbers are a little higher than pure sales: those numbers are transactions, which include sales & deposits. Also, certain sales generate more than one transaction, though its rare, when a seller has an item set to split the sale proceeds among multiple sellers. Then its one transaction per seller from the amount of the sale, which inflates it (hardly anyone is using this feature, however).

I'll refine the numbers at some point I have more time, and maybe make a dedicated page for stats.

Regards,

-Flip

1.7 is impeding my ability to develop new product, so I guess it's indirectly affecting my business.

Oh well. :(

Other then that, afew carefully timed effects got screwed up and I had to work around them.
Yeah... the taxiing behavior on my autogyro has been wierd since 1.7, particularly in loaded sims. I've got that working a bit better in a new release I am getting ready.
