I also just want to state, although Aimee Weber did not attend, her panties did drop in to say hi. They were a pleasure to meet.

I have heard rumors she attended as an alt, and I can honestly say that I have no idea if this is true or not.

That's precisely how we designed the con - so that something like that could happen and not even organizers know.

I think I will squash this one just in case it has legs ... nope. I didn't attend as an alt. A lot of people know what I look like in RL so I wouldn't really have been able to get away with it anyways.

As for my panties... what Bub was wearing under his clothes are for Bub and only Bub to know.

I found Kendra Bancroft, in particular, absolutely delightful.

I loved that heated argument between you, PenPen, and Prok. PRICELESS! (And on camera!)

I'm kinda socially backwards, so in case anyone couldn't tell I had a great time and loved meeting everyone. I left with no bad impressions at all, and got to see more personality than in forums or in-world.

Anshe in person, to me, was just like Anshe in game. Smart business woman. I have spoken to her in game in casual conversation and got the idea she was a personable person. Her RL smile is very charming and while I didn't spend much time talking to her, I was glad to meet her. Guni, her RL husband, was amazing. He fills the support role very well while at the same time, he was clearly his own person.

I hugged Prok before introducing myself. I wanted to give Prok a hug without the possibility of rejection once I revealed myself. I am glad I did because even though it might not have had the super power healing effect one would hope, it was something I had always tried to do in the forums and was glad to accomplish it in RL. Without going into details, the RL interaction gave me some insight into a lot about Prok. In RL you can feel a person's energy and that flow of energy reveals so much more about that person than any amount of words on a web page can ever show. It doesn't excuse Prok's behavior, but I now understand a lot more than I did. I saw this whole revelation as part of a much larger positive image of human intellectual versus human physical experiences. And while one might be more intelligently carried it could also be more emotional because of the isolational nature of sitting in front of a computer typing out your "feelings". While in person, the depth and breadth of it all goes much deeper, and works on completely different impulses and therefore evokes a stronger pervasive feeling where less words were needed to be said but an understanding can occur that had more substance.

I hope that made sense because is as close to writing my thoughts on the situation as I could come to. I was disappointed to read Prok's blog and find that Prok didn't quite get it. But that's something that Prok has to deal with and I am quite sorry Prok walked away with that particular viewpoint and didn't see it for what it could be.

One other person I was dreading meeting, Hiro Pendragon. We had had some words prior to the meeting and I was feeling that the hurt I had felt would make me uncomfortable during the party and conference. But when I walked into the club and up to the "special room", the energy flowing in there was so strong and so positive that I realized this was bigger than Hiro and it was bigger than me and it was more important and tangible than any petty negativity that had occured in world. This was the Metaverse come real and it was Fantastastic.

Meeting everyone else was just intensely beautiful. Even the ones I didn't know. Philip was well Philip. Cory Linden is a magnificent human being. I spent 5 hours sitting next to him and I was in awe. Neph Protagonist was nervous, I found that so endearing. The list could go on, Maxx Monde was sweet and sexy and tall as was Seldon Metropolitan. Chad the Nexcom guy was a bundle of raw energy.

The whole thing was more a positive experience, but then again, maybe it was just me.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

This seems to be the one question that has been asked the most in a variety of spectrums.

The simple answer to it is yes. I am going to take a leap of faith and assume that a lot of this has to do with public opinion about people like Prokofy and Anshe.

I was not sure what to expect from Prokofy in person, but was plesantly surprised. One thing I can say that I honestly respect about Prok is that she is obviously an intelligent person and not some dumb uninformed antithetical rabblerouser. Its in my natural tendencies to silently root for the underdogs sometimes. I cannot say that I agree 99% with anything Prok says and even that 1% is a bit iffy at times. Granted its probably easier for me to say this because I mostly just didn't get involved in all of the Prokofy vs the world forum posts.

Anshe and her husband were very sweet in person. I left the convention feeling very badly for ever having thought negatively of them. Sometimes its hard to separate the business from the person behind the business and this may in fact be the case with Anshe.

Meeting everyone at the convention has only enhanced my in world relationships. In fact, I have added new friendships to my in world list.

Anshe, was just lovely in person. As Jennyfur said, I don't get into political debates and stay to the lighter side of the forums where I am most comfortable.

The bottom line here is I loved everyone I met and walked away from the convention with many memories to treasure till the next time.

Life, in any world, is always too short. Thanks to Second Life, the Convention Organizers, Sponsors and Volunteers for giving so much. Thanks from the bottom of my heart!

I was jumping in a taxi and you guys really needed it more than me. Plus paying some guy $5 for 10 minutes to hold one for you really seemed a little pricey.

OK I admit it, I was affraid your friend was gonna kick my ass if I left with it.

The impression I left with was very positive. Everyone I met was enthusiastic about the world, and very personable and kind.
There are a few moments that really stand out in my memory- Kendra and her time-travelling Valkyries, the suprise of getting to meet Digi Fox who I hadnt met IW but is one fascinating lady. And the memory of PenPen in my big fuzzy coat, and April's enthusiasm will always make me smile. It was a pleasure to get to be the 5th person to pinch Jade Lily's cheek and tell him how adorable he is. ;)
Maxx and Nicola were especially encouraging when I was at my most unglued, right before the panel. I wish I had the words to express how much that meant to me.:)
I could go on and on about the individual people I met, but I am trying to keep this brief. You were all lovely, and my only regret with this event is that it didnt go on longer.

What impressed me most of all was how polite and warm everyone was to each other. I got a definite "we're all in this together" sort of vibe.

There are a few people I wish I could have met, but didnt happen to cross paths with- which leaves me really looking forward to the next time!

Overall, it was an incredible weekend. I left feeling even more enchanted with the Grid, it's culture, and it's residents.
A heartfelt Thank You to all the organizers and contributors and residents-in-attendance. Congratulations on a fabulous event.
:D

Misty, I cannot believe there were people in SL who were not already on your friends list! I thought you were the one person who knew everyone!

Heheh i remember that. Probably a good thing I was at another table. :D

Doing "governance" in 1 hour was always going to be pushing it, but still we managed to get through it without the building collapsing in on itself!
