Linden Lab staff have already fixed many of the technical troubles you may have noticed after our recent upgrade. And now that Second Life is back to being a bustling world, we wanted to offer you a gift, our way of apologizing for any frustration you may have had, on your first visit, and a new way for you to adventure, when you return. It'll be waiting in your inventory, next time you log in. (Click on the Inventory button in the bottom right hand corner and then do a search for "BLOO" in the inventory search field.)

Zip around Second Life at speeds up to 20 times normal flight velocity! Full jet exhaust effects-- write your name across the sky! Fly at unrestricted heights, and explore all the mysterious air cities and space ships at the edge of SL's gravitational pull. Comes with an on-board Help System - just type "Help" into chat. Customize the color and texture your Bloo to fit your flying personality.

Well it's a nice gesture but... given the lagginess of SL since 1.7, wouldn't something that didn't require movement (at 20 times normal speed no less!) have been a better idea?

I just tried mine on.
it's very well done: you can see the turning rotor inside the turbines, and the smoke and sound effects are VERY good. in all... a nice little gift to the community.  |

I am sure that is why they didn't publicize this move it is a good move on their part as new members are needed to sustain this beast, but it does leave those of us shelling out massive RL cash to feel, um, somewhat used... _____________________

This jetpack was one of the items chosen for the premium promotion. Basic members who change over to premium accounts can choose one of five free items. (At least I hope they still can.)
I don't know if the item is being given to all new members, or just those who are new and haven't switched to premium. But it seems reasonable to me that they could choose to give away these special items to new members as they see fit, no? coco _____________________

It's been crowded and now it's back to being bustling? I must of missed an update, when did it get back to normal? Was there a memo? Nice idea of a gift though, especially one that let's you fly higher (less experience of the lag) and faster (less experience of the lag). _____________________
