Stolen content on the teen grid?

It seems that texture theft has moved to the Teen Grid as well:

At first glance, nothing seems unusual. Upon closer inspection however, the skin the avatar on the teen grid is wearing is Lost Thereian's male skin, something not for sale on the teen grid. Now it could be a legit Lost Skin that has gotten onto the teen grid, or it could be a ripped texture being sold as a skin by someone else. Unfortunately, Lost cannot go into the teen grid to find out (though thanks to the new no hassle registration, they can descend on the main grid like locusts). It also appears the shirt the avatar has on is a Pixel Doll's creation (also not for sale on the teen grid). How is this stuff getting on there?

I would like to know myself, considering they can't make purchases on SLB or SLX anymore like the refugees were doing early on. I've seen a bunch of things on snapzilla from the teen grid like tinies avatars, skins, animations from reverie, etc etc. I've been told some of my clothing is there as well as Nylon's and Toast's. I'm sure there is a lot more. What I don't know is if this stuff is no copy or if there is stuff actually being sold and they have full permissions etc.

Here's where I saw the shot on snapzilla, isn't that a tinies avatar? the rideable pony? I might be wrong.

There is (Or used to be? I reported it) a bug where *edited: you could pass items to the TG very easily.* Though, I'd highly suggest not doing it because it will probably get you banned.

This is a problem. Lindens know about it and we wait and see what happens. Another question is, how can content providers even check to see if their things have been stolen and are being sold there? Who's policing the station boys? Do Lindens care? Are they doing anything proactive to stop it?

There was some glitch with groups, that you could transfer items to the teen grid by looking at the group's members and selecting their profiles, it would show members of the teengrid, you could just trasnfer anything there and it would go to the teengrid, last i heard they fixed this problem, and the lindens were catching whoever traded items to teengrid and gave them first a formal warning and then a ban.

Cris, I am fairly sure that the person who took that picture on Snapzilla got booted off to the teen grid ...

I seem to remember seeing their profile on the main grid (they are listed at PXP as a designer) -- that would explain, at least partly, how main grid content might have gotten on the teen grid.

do teens have the same means of buying and selling lindens? I would imagine they would have stricter rules on that, maybe im just crazy though.

I always wondered if they even had a large market for that; I mean the main grid is adults who generally have more disposable income to use in SL, i cant imagine that being the case as most teens probably dont even have acesss to credit cards etc.

I guess what I am getting at is there even a large profit possibilty to fuel theft on the teen grid?

Yes. Right click an item that was made in the TG, then look at the profile of the creator. You can surf around in their groups to find people.

THIS IS ON https://secondlife.com/currency/

"Teen Grid Residents will be restricted to:

* purchasing no more than US$25 worth of L$ per rolling 30 days
* selling/posting no more than US$2000 worth of L$ per rolling 30 days

SO i WOULD SAY THEY HAVE A NICE MOTIVE TO COME TO MAIN GRID RIP OFF MAIN GRID DESINERS AND THEN UP LOAD THE RIP OFFS TO THE TEEN GRID. 2000 us $ a month in motive

In all seriousness though, I wouldnt be suprised if some designers themselves were selling on the teengrid, not about this situation... but I have heard of many other designers sneaking in and getting extra loot...

So now back to the specific topic... when the hell is LL going to take action about this???? It is ridiculous that they are making us get lawyers and such BEFORE they will take action, even then, do they REALLY take action?

I know some items were donated to the teen grid by content creators on Linden request, so this might just be one of them.

didn't the lindens also have an amnesty for teens who were in SL, allowing them to take their inventory too? granted, it's more likely theft or selling, but ...

True and i remember when the teen grid first started, they had 1 week set for anyone to confess they are a teen and be moved to the teen grid with all their PG rates stuff intact. Unless thats a mature rated skin i'm sure it made it through the gate.

I'm guessing anyone that blatantly rips stuff off from the main grid and sells it would have no problems making an illegal account on the Teen grid to sell it over there as well.

Only problem is we can't see that they've done it because we're not allowed. Texture stealing from the main grid may be rampant over there.

Also if anyone who creates stuff on the main grid like clothing and skins could share with their teen completely legally. I don't think Linden could say you can't share files on your local network.

My children play on the teen grid and i've noticed alot of item's from the main grid on the teen grid, from hair to houses, shoes, clothes ect..
Some for sale and alot of it for free.
One hairstyle I paid $250 for on the adult grid was free on the teen grid and the BMX bikes also.
The stuff is getting there somehow

I have that furniture!!!

I did notice the other day, browsing snapzilla, one of the main teen grid snappers did one with the UI showing and it showed about $L35,000. I remember wondering how the heck did they get that, if they can't buy lindens! I mean I know they could earn it, but man!

Actualy some of my stuff got ripped off & are BEING SOLD on the teen grid.
Not just mine either but I can't say names.

(If it was you though you would been contacted already so clam down..)

I, or the other people who are ebing ripped off, never allowed for our things to be given away or anything.

Anyway the only thing to do is file a DMCA..
But you can't go see if for yourself cos the lindens would freak.
& you can't ask a linden to go check it for you, cos they won't.
& you can't contact the people doing it, cos again - the lindens would freak.

& all they say is file a dmca.

& you know what I wnat to know? If they get to carry those things over to the main grid when they turn 18.
Like if you were "born" on the TG and move over to the MG, do you move in with a bunch of freebies that are being sold here? & If the girl who'se selling my stuff turns 18?

yep. thats my shirt. and no, it was NOT given as a freebie to be distributed over there, NOR do I have any undercover commercial prescence on the TG.

just to make that perfectly clear.

now: teengridders selling my items?
Reminds me that some people are never too old to really, truly need a good hard spanking. and im talking the "grandma's-willow-switch" variety, not some across the lap "oh daddy!" bullshit.

Sadly, the Lindens have given us a "what is truth?" response, and washed thier hands of the need to be involved with these issues.

*stalks away muttering*

..while the thief is making money selling YOUR content and LL is taking their sweet time to deal with the problem.

**edit
Man, that sounded nasty. What i'm trying to say is, DMCA takes too (censored)ing long to produce results while the thief can happily convert their stolen L$ to RL currency, get their account banned (and now, thanks to recent changes) come back and do it again.

WTF?
