i don't, cause my voice works and so do my fingers and there are other mediums out there. other forums.. i still get to express and they have to hunt for the information they will need and take the risk of anyone wanting to invest finding something they wouldn't want them to.. gawd that sounds cryptic..

I've been in SL for over two years and the forums were a valuable resource and information source, a place to exchange ideas, etc.

It's dumb shutting down the forums just because people bitch about bugs and system defeincies on it. Blogs are okay, but they're just not the same.

I'm not going to see in a blog that this or that other person found the same bug as I, etc.

…but before anyone worries, it’s important to point out that these changes are related specifically to the main grid forums.

Currently the Teen Grid forums remain a valuable and functional means of communication between Linden Lab and the community, as well as a friendly place to go for help, a way to advertise your goods and services, etc.

The Teen Grid will benefit from a “best of both worlds” approach as we work to integrate new communication tools while continuing to maintain the teen grid forums.

So the Teen Grid forums are valuable and communication between Linden Labs, but who cares about the adult grid forums?

Maybe the teens are too timid to inform LL when they are full of shit.

I interprate it to mean the teen forums and grid are still small enough to warrant the resources to maintain.

er... so, yes.

IMHO the best way to make your displeasure heard is with the cash flow. Canceling my paid account before the payment date personally. They can't listen to us, why should I pay them?

gee and here I thought they were doing it so they wouldn't have to deal with people who trolled about religion abortion and politics. my bad. obviously they were doing it to screw you over. i bet they have secret meetings where they rub their hands in glee at the thought of how angry they can make the residents. I can just hear the conversation now... Robin saying hay I know lets close the forums -- that'll really piss them off! and Philip sayin oh capital idea old chap make it so (in his best Picard voice) and Jeska and Torley just jumping up and down with glee because seeing us angry and pissed off makes them ever so happy.

Come on people. These forums are nothing but a cesspool and a blackhole into which time and money are poured to no avail. It is time for them to go away. This is a good thing.

yes because continuing to use the product w/o paying for it, even though you can, is a great way to ensure its continuation. Good show old man! Have at it!

Those can be recreated elsewhere Nimrod

I betcha Cris would do it on SL Universe and even agree to mod them a little so that it sticks to creation and not flames.

FYI, "the move to a free model where the majority of free users support the paying minority and allow them to pay much larger monthly fees" (search for Jul 29, 2006 9:58:19 PM to see the original comment) is LL's grand game plan. If they didn't think it was worth their while to offer free accounts, you can be sure they wouldn't.

Really. Then why do you post here?

Are the design and building forums cesspools? The classifieds?

How many people will bother to look beyond the "official forums" for help? In my experience, not many.

That is why these forums are important, it is where the clueless, frustrated newb will go first, and often, last.

Ya, you're right. I hate smelling the fertilizer spread across square miles of croplands as I drive through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, or Iowa. I hate the thought of all that good food growing in the dirt and wet and mud, under the glare of a too-hot sun that shows every crease, every scar, every fault, and every failure. Let's eliminate the fertilizer, the dirt, the scummy water, and the sun.

No doubt our food will be better, more plentiful, and more palatable.

Forums can hardly be prepared to food. You don't need these forums to live. These forums are not anyone's livlihood. As a matter of fact, if you want to compare it to a money making venture, these forums cost LL the space to store the database and the cost of Torley's and Jeska's salaries -- just to name two costs right off the top of my head. Were this a farm, it would be more like pouring fertilizer and water into a fallow field which is rocky and produces poorly.
