Ok, I need some advice.
About 3 weeks ago my two best friends bought some land on an island and I decided to rent the plot beside them. And to the left of me are two other neighbors. We all built nice houses and admired the view that was the reason we had all came here.
About a week after we got all settled in, a woman buys some land in the water and puts up 'plungers' and calls her land plungeria *lol*. I spoke with her and asked if she could just take them down a lil bit so we could see past and she said she was just funning around anyways and was sorry about that.
Well, I thought being the friendly person I am that she was gonna be a nice nieghbor like the others on the beach as well. Til the end of last week when all hell broke lose.
She decided to build a fort I suppose you could call it of 'beans' YES! beans..just the sickest thing you can imagine in the middle of a beautiful waterfront. Since some of the 'beans' were on protected land we reported that and my friend asked her to remove them from the protected l and only..we all understand she purchased the land she can do with whatever she likes. She became irrate and put nasty things on his land and my other friends land. When he became irrate back she built a prison wall all the way along the front of both their house, my house and my neighbors. So now we have absolutely NO VIEW! just a boring ole wall with wires on the top.
My question to you guys is...what do you do when you have a neighbor like this? We tried the friendly approach, we've reported her to see nothing happen, and now we get this.
Has anyone else had these types of issues and what did you do to solve them?
Im also including some snapshots to show the before and after...its horrible

You can report her fo putting nasty things on other peoples land.. As for what she does with her land, thats the way of SL, people build whatever they want.. Theres nothing much you can do..
You can try and get land on the edge of the world, but it won't be to edge for long.. Or put up walls..
Sorry I can't be of more help..

Im also including some snapshots to show the before and after...its horrible The "lady" is an SL "griefer." Being nice to her will not get you anywhere. If you ignore griefers they usualy go away, but particularly with the "buy the water" scam, they want to be paid first. If you give here a huge ungodly amount for the land she has, she will go. That's what she wants, it's about extortion. Oh, you can report them too, but that is more to make the Lindens feel needed than anything that wil actually do anything.

As for items on protected land, you can report that to the Linden staff or to the land management forum. Other than that, you'll probably just have to put up with it. If the person is doing these things to harass you, put them on ignore. They may eventually get bored and either 1) sell their land, or 2) go back to a normal build. Unfortunately, although you bought the land for the view, you don't own the view. The only way to guarantee beautiful surroundings is to buy all the land around you. I've been through the same thing, with both ugly walls and ban lines, and they do eventually go away.

Im also including some snapshots to show the before and after...its horrible Tonia - here's one solution to your problem. It will consume some prims, and will take a little bit of time - but you could get your view back. 1. Use the debug options to temporarily 'Hide' the build in front of you that you don't like. (Debug // Rendering // Types) 2. Take Snapshot(s) of the now unobstructed view 3. Put up a phantom "View Wall" - large enough to cover where you would look, and place your snapshots you took on the View Wall. If you line your snapshots up just right, it wont look half bad. 4. To be an honorable neighbor, make the opposite side of your view wall 100% transparent on the neighbors side. Its not perfect - But I'd bet it will be 1000% better to look at Good Luck!

It seems that you have taken the proper steps available to you. Much of the time, waiting it out provides relief from situations like this. You are in the best position amongst you and your two friends since you rent while they have bought their land. It will be easiest for you to transfer to a private estate rental which offers zoning while the mainland does not.

I'll try the wall
And I have pretty much figured shes trying to either run us out to buy our land or trying to get us to buy hers. Well we arent gonna leave and I am hoping if we just ignore her lil sherade that she'll either A. sell her land or B. built something nicer to look at.
For the time being tho..we have moved to the skies...to avoid her all together
Thanks for everyones advice...anything you can offer ill try lol

Walls can look very nice if you texture them right, possibly better than your previous view

What I don't understand is why parcels of nothing but water are sold in front of parcels with waterfront in the first place. No one expects that irl; you CAN'T just build your house of beans in the water in front of someone's beach house in Michigan City. So a person can get what looks like a very nice lot (or rent one) and pay more for it, too, not realizing that there are "water" parcels for sale right in front of it. I don't think that is right planning on the part of the Lindens. Seems ok to have the beach parcel itself extend into its own water in front of it, but what is this deal about selling the nothing-but-water parcel to other people? It's not like a bunch of residents plan to drill for oil. coco

This is exactly why we need some sort of rating/reputation system.

u can do what i did, having a similar problem. I uploaded a pretty skyline picture and made a wall of it to have a better view. unfortunately, if it's on their land there's really nothing you can do about eyesores PS - not sure who that is in the first pic but THANK YOU for buying one of my outfits first time I've seen that happen

Briana Dawson Why so they can neg the purpetrator, they can all get negs back, and they can be down L$75 each? This is exactly the kind of situation that was made 10 times worse with ratings in place. By the sounds of this person, they would have been negged just for asking to remove the items from the protected land..

The Resident that Tonia Lameth is referring to is named Cottonteil Muromachi. I say this being a friend of Cotton's, altho we disagree vehemently on some points and send curses to each other in IM. Needless to say, we're both a couple of eccentrics. There's a LOT of context missing from this thread (as there tends to be), and while I enjoy the discussion, this is exactly why there are Community Standards. I would certainly hope NONE of them were broken here by either side, but a fundamental part to remember about SL is: Your World. Your Imagination. Whether you are for beans or against beans, this is not the type of thing you can do offline. If you go to one of the most venerable sims, Welsh, and lookâthere's a crazy-ass beanstalk built there that goes all the way up and blocks the freakin' view from some angles! But who was that made by? Steller Sunshine, the very first Resident of Second Life. And all the people in Welsh are great: there are normal houses next to more wacky builds, and they embrace diversity. There are a lot of false analogs in SL: what looks like water doesn't even behave like water! Or furthermore, people believe that everything that looks like a gun will act like one. Not necessarily so... this reality can be shaped freely. From: Tonia Lameth And I have pretty much figured shes trying to either run us out to buy our land or trying to get us to buy hers. Well we arent gonna leave and I am hoping if we just ignore her lil sherade that she'll either A. sell her land or B. built something nicer to look at.
I don't know the full story here, but I'd like to reassure you this isn't what Cotton believes in. I once had a talk with her about getting her to sell her creations, and it went badly. The most positive thing I can hope for here is you guys eventually become good neighbors. After all, Cottonteil Muromachi also makes things like this... Each person has a story. Best of hope, Tonya. :)

It's the SL bait and switch - sorry. To own the view you must buy the view. It's only $200 a month, that's not so bad, is it?

well maybe if she'd made something like thats in those pictures it wouldnt even be a problem...but beans? thats not art..and if you'd read what i said..I KNOW that everyone who buys land has the RIGHT to what they want on their land...reading can be a nice thing to do...and also if you read you'd see my name is TONIA not TONYA.. Either way we are making the wall as we speak to try and block out this hideous thing she has built...like i said if she wants to share her art and build nice things go for it..that nice waterfall would be gorgeous out there..but she chose to build something thats not even remotely close to art...

The issue were never beans, the issue was me enjoying running my boat, suddenly having a huge (undeniably gross) slab covering most of the water including the protected land. I asked her to open the protected/maintenance area so i could run my boat through, the reply was 'wait till i get bored with it' and i had already been doing that for the past week. I'm sure cottonteil could be better off answering to her own dramas but i know you just couldnt stay away

From: Tonia Lameth exactly...those lots shouldnt be for sale in the first place...makes no sense to me Actually, the Messenger's office plot is 7/10 water-only plots. We find it rather useful, as they add prim capacity to our office while not demanding that we build anything there... and the diving board off the back deck makes for some great office parties. Just saying, water-only plots can serve a purpose. P2

that your post wasnt bad, I agree everyone should be allowed to do there thing, i'm aware she know how to build more than beans, I got a poop gun from her, which is funny in itself. xD so if your so inclined i know theres nothing stopping you from building enormous heaps of vomit covering 17000sq. only thing i can demand is to be able to run a vehicle through on the protected land thats left, which was what i asked.

Cottonteil reply to her own dramas?? bhwhahaha like that will ever happen, cant even get a civil response in IMs from this Griefer Builder.... and dont hold your breath waiting for Linden to reply, they dont care what she does, even if it is on protected land.
In the meantime, as one of the land owners Tonia was speaking of, we have moved everything vertical and hope this childish griefer grows tired.

Just to help balance things a bit, and maybe play devils advocate ...
Perhaps she never set out to be a griefer at all, but something in your tone and approach turned her into one. Griefers don't usually demonstrate high-grade skills like that.
Maybe she just thought one day - " aha - that plunger thing would be funny, get my pals round for a laugh " and if you'd kept quiet, or even made a funny remark, it would have barely lasted a few days.
Once you began to display a sense of entitlement, which you really don't possess just because you were ignorant of waterplots, maybe she began to dislike you.
My advice is - either keep yourself to yourself and put up with what your neighbors do unless WAY outside the TOS. OR set out positively to make friends immediately and from the beginning, so that you quickly find yourselves respecting each others feelings quite naturally, even if you'd rather not, just as part of being a person. Hug them into being considerate.
Neither works 100%. The first is more reliable than the second, but for some perhaps not so much fun. It's the halfway strategies that cause most trouble.
And always remember, one man's meat is another man's poison.
The prison looks really well executed. I wouldn't mind it near me. You should see what I've put up with. The waterview was never yours. You made a mistake.
