I have a question...I see ALOT of escorts, dancers, whatever you want to call them in SL - is there really that big of a demand for them?

I have to say Colette that the question seemed genuine and to my mind valid. One reasonable answer might be that the market decides - if there was no demand they wouldn't be there. Your reaction gives a good insight into the kinds of shallow unthinking reactions that many people must have given you to similar topics in the past, and I'm saddened by that.

I don't have much use for such services myself. But I do a lot of building work for a fellow whose club features strippers and escorts, of both genders. And he's told me a bit about his business.

I won't quote numbers, but suffice it to say that on a good night, the club owner and the escorts each make a large number of Lindens on 'tips' for their 'services'. So certainly there are a number of people out there who desire such services, and are willing to pay well for them.

Well when I first came here 9 days ago, I knew nothing. I wandered around and bumped into a Sex Dungeon. I found it interesting. I write sex stories IRL, so such talk comes easily to me.

I found out I could be an escort and did such. I thought at first, ahh god just a bunch of horny guys who are going to treat me like shit. Its really not the case and one of my most valued friends in SL, sprung from this type of encounter.

Now that im building a club, ive stopped the escort thing. But I plan on hiring alot of girls and guys for my club and training them in the escort field. Its not for everyone, but I enjoy it. I personally think a RL photo is a must, I use them and sound clips to enhance my client's mindframe. I have fun doing it and enjoy the attention. Does that mean im starved for real attention? Nope. Does it mean I lack real encounters and sexual activity? Nope. It only means its my game and I can enjoy it how I want to.

Now there is those who insult me for such. Alot of them. Making comments about how I must be in 1st Life. These people are insecure and 8 outt 10 times have tried it once or twice themselves (Mostly on paying end). Im assuming they failed or looked like an idiot and the embaressment burns them still. My 1st Life is perfect, although currently single, im a very responsible and mature adult. Im slutty here so i dont have to be there

There is no harm in seeking sexual stimulation via the internet. Of course if your shy about it, make sure to keep in confidentual. I dont say anything about such things, unless my client does first. And most are open and honest about it, because any real adult would never judge another person about something they did in a video game.. No matter how real the pretenses of it were.

Though its a poor defence my post wasnt directed mainly at the original poster but more in general, basically all the differing responses that i knew were coming.

People who have read my posts for a while know i make this mistake often of talking in generalized terms but being assumed that i am speaking to only one person.

FYI, I have a number of friends who are in the escort business today and while the club owners/escort managers may make money (after all, they have 6 to 12 girls paying them commission) it can be a slow, difficult way to try to earn money for the individual escort. You must purchase a good skin and have a great wardrobe (including roleplay outfits) and you have to fend off past customers who think they're entitled for return freebies. And after all that, until you've worked hard at building your clientele for a couple of months you're going to be looking at some weeks with no customers, some with 2 or 3, and always with 10-20% of your earnings going to your club. Good luck thinking you can freelance right off the bat - without that client base, and with most clubs not wanting you to work against their own escorts, you'll need a wealth of patience and perseverance.

It's not a glamorous life as some would believe and the demand in SL may be there but it's also being more-than-generously met by the supply (ask your local escort club how hard it is to find new girls). If you don't stand above the crowd, you're better off playing Tringo for money.
